We had too much hand-wringing on the old site over the limited options of only five possible ratings. So used 10 in my Batman Begins poll, now that we can.

But we should standardize. What should we standarize at?

1
1 1/2

2 1/2
3
3 1/2
4
4 1/2
5

That would be nine (leaving Sharpie to give everything a 3). We can also add a 1/2 (0.5) star option at the bottom of a poll, giving us a round ten option, but giving Sharpie no absloute middle. Waddaya think?

Nah, zero's too tempting.

Besides, in order to keep our gradations, even, that would require eleven choices. Or nine, with four stars being the highest rating.

5.

10 is too many and you have to do the math to get to what the equivalent is. We're all familiar with the four-star ratings (later changed to five-star for no good reason).

Lucky I haven't seen Fantastic 4 or Batman Begins cause I don't wanna vote in a puffed-up steroid rating system. My son saw both, rates recent vintage superhero franchises in the following order: Spiderman, X-Men, Batman, Fantastic 4, Daredevil, Hulk.

So, then

1/2
1
1 1/2
2
2 1/2
3
3 1/2
4
4 1/2
5

Is that what you're advocating?

Sure.

(on edit): But I didn't have a problem with the old 1-5. I just have my own rules which ends up me giving a whole mess of 3s.

Without any further objections, so be it. Now there'll be no absolute middle.

I like it.
