Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Brought over from the IGT . . .Many of us have been predicting that the Nationals were in over their heads. Many of us have also been longing for a strong run by the Mets. Over the past four days, the destinies of these two teams clashed. We emerged victorious, but is this just a blip on our radars? Or the start of something greater? Is this the beginning of the end for the Nationals, or just a bump on the road?
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 The Expos have already been messing with the baseball gods - they already are taking names for postseason ticket purchases.Plus the sale of Mets Suck shirts in front of RFK before Monday's game was also not good for their Karma. The hell with them - they'll wilt in the August sun.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 I won't buy a rise for the Mets until I see some hitting for more than a couple days in a row. What did they have, seven hits in eleven innings? Five of which were from two guys?I do think this could mark the beginning of the end for the Nats.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 It's the start of something great...go Mets
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 When the skies are brighter canary yellowI forget ev'ry cloud I've ever seen,So they called me a cockeyed optimistImmature and incurably green.I have heard people rant and rave and bellowThat we're done and we might as well be dead,But I'm only a cockeyed optimistAnd I can't get it into my head.I hear the human raceIs fallin' on its faceAnd hasn't very far to go,But ev'ry whippoorwillIs sellin' me a bill,And tellin' me it just ain't so.I could say life is just a bowl of JelloAnd appear more intelligent and smart,But I'm stuck like a dopeWith a thing called hope,And I can't get it out of my heart!
Guest cooby Guests Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 lol, Scarlett hates the Nats with a hate that's hot...
Guest Spacemans Bong Guests Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Only one team in the history of baseball has made the postseason with a negative run differential - the '87 Twins.I DOUBT the Nats will be the second.
Guest holychicken Guests Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Although, I didn't vote this way, but in reality, this is actually the begining of the Mets' ascent. . .considering they were in 5th place and now they are in 4th place. The begining might be the ending as well, but that's okay. :)
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 "mets suck"??damn, where the hell does that come from? and, damn! what a fucking RIPOFF job off the bosox.what next? are they going to have a rally chimpanzee? a washington whacko? a monument park of their own?build yer own damned history, folks. no need to steal somebody else's.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 They had beach balls in the stand Tuesday and they play Sweet Caroline in the 6th inning of games.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Beginning of end for Gnats (Knats?).Mets are a .500 club until further notice.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 The more games a team plays, the more their true talent level seems to emerge. The Nationals have been playing way over thei heads, but they don't have the talent to sustain a run throughout the duration of the season.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 a monument park of their own?DC has enough monuments already, and it had them before the yankees did.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 It's far too soon to tell if it's significant -- but I decided to be an optimist and vote both.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 "Neither" wins.Come forward and collect your melted ice cream if you said "Neither."
