The bluest sky youve ever seen, in Seattle.
And the hills the greenest green, in Seattle.
Like a beautiful child,
Growing up, free and wild.
Full of hopes and full of fears,
Full of laughter, full of tears,
Full of dreams to last a year,
In Seattle.

The reason we lost yesterday is that I didn't post a rally song. I'll not make that mistake again.

I hope you're all enjoying your barbecue.

OK, so the Mets go down in order. That's nothing new.

The Mariners get 'em on first and third with one out and Sexson up. Sexy, who is one big pile of meat, takes strike three on a borderline pitch (looked low to me, but not as much as the two that got Anderson), has some words, gets tossed, and then Hargrove steps in and protects him, and gets tossed himself.

Any money on when Randolph is going to be tossed for the first time?

Anyhow, Pedro is magic, and got out of it.

The next commercial comes from "The Foundation for a Better Life," a parable about an umpire who made a bad call, and the player who got jacked helps the ump with his car after the game, and what an example that was for junior.

Suspicious minded person that I am, I immediately wonder what the player did to the ump's tires.

In a craptastic sequence, Franklin can't find the plate with a kite and a key, walking Piazza and Wright and facing Mientkiewicz with two out.

DM hits an apparent slump-bustin' double down the leftfield line, but the ball bounces nicely into the leftifielder's glove, Wright gets caught going for third, and the out erases the apparent run that Piazza was looking to score because the tag came a step and a half before Piazza crossed the plate.

Good job by Piazza getting the walk after getting beat by two 92-mile-per-hour fastballs.

Bad job getting beat by those fastballs.

Bad job indeed not scoring there.

It's time.

We roll tonight to the guitar bite

Stand up and be counted!
For what you are about to receive!
We are the dealers!
We'll give you everything you need!
Hail! hail! to the good times!
Cos' rock has got the right of way!
We ain't no legends, ain't no cause!
We're just livin' for today!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!

We rock at dawn on the front line
Like a bolt right outta the blue
The skies alight with a guitar bite
Heads will roll and rock tonight
For those about to rock!
We salute you!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!

For those about to rock!
We salute you!
Yes we do!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!

Salute!

We're just a battery for hire with the guitar fire!
Ready and aimed at you!
Pick up your balls and load up your cannon!
For a twenty-one gun salute!
For those about to rock!
Fire!
We salute you!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!
For those about to rock!
Fire!
We salute you!
Fire!
We salute you!

We salute you, c'mon!

For those about to rock!
We salute you!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!
For those about to rock!
We salute you!
Shoot! Shoot!
For those who give!
For those who take!
Those left high!
And those on the make!
We salute you!
We salute you!
We salute you!

Diaz makes an awkward play on a pop and it's second and third with no outs for Seattle.

Two more singles and it's 2-0, still no out.

Borders just struck out on a ball that almost hit him in the face!

Pedro, before getting the first out in the fourth, had yielded his season high in hits allowed, with eight.

David Wright just got the third out (after runs three and four score) on a heroic dive into the stands!

Yay!

David Wright looks hurt!

Grrrrrrr...

I'm 47 years old and been a Mets fan all my baseball conscious life - the recent comatose play got me to wondering whether I'll still care when I'm 50 - but then D-Wright makes a hell bent catch like that and suddenly I'm 6 years old again and all things are possible.

Sore ribs and all, Wright triples off the wall and the Mets are on the board.

Royce Ring's locks are getting a little long for Randolph's mandate.

Tonight would be a good game to win, the Phills the Nats and the Marlins all lost, Atlanta won, Beltran up, he looks lost at the plate recently.

Posted

this team sucks. i revise my prediction, since deleted by ezboard, to 71-91.

Posted

Steady Eddie in to close for the M's, Piazza out, Woodward hits for the Dauber, Wright on deck, 1 ball 1 strike, Woddie gets a hit into shallow center....

Wright at 3 and 2....come on you Mets

Game over..Mets lose 8 of the last 10, the M's beat Pedro for the first time ever and the Mets offence is fucking horrible..

Well, we'll need at least three runs against Everyday Eddie to do it.

Nope.

Pedro now 14-1 vs. Seattle.

One thing here, Howie Rose in on Vacation so Ed Coleman is with Gary Cohen, Coleman is useless, he had the call on the great David Wright play into the stands and he was lost, horrible call, actually it was a no-call, I wish gary Cohen had it, anyway the Mets lost so it all sucks..

They really shoulda had Gary go Vin Scully style or let Eddie C put on a wig and change his name to Suzyn.

I can't believe no one wripped Wright for his bonehead play on the bases. Sure Piazza is slow, but he's not the reason the run didn't score. You never make the last out going to third...but, you never never make the last out going to third moments before a run scores. If you are going to make a bonehead play and get gunned down going to third, at least get caught in a rundown to insure the run scores.

Posted

It sure looked like on the replay that Piazza slowed up coming home, he certainly wasn't busting it, seems to be the way things are going though for this offence.

Posted

Piazza may have slowed up, but there's no reason to bust it if there is no chance you'll be thrown out. The catcher wasn't even covering the plate...I'm sure it never crossed his mind that David Wright would get himself thrown out before he reached the plate.

I understand this is a young team, but things like that, including Diaz missing the cut-off man, are things you're taught in Little League.
