Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Now belongs to the Yankees
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 I remember thinking he was just another stupid transient Stearns acquisition. And I was right!
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 That's Joshua Rico Garcia, yet another middle-namer.Two perfectly good outings gets a guy a DFA.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Two perfectly good outings gets a guy a DFA. That's what you get for doing a good job.Later
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 (edited) Rico leaves the org with 2 Met appearances, or twice as many as Jose Ureña, Kevin Herget, Tyler Zuber, and Zach Pop (FA) each made. Jonathan Pintaro, returned to Syracuse, also has one and only one game as a Met in all. Edited July 15, 2025 by G-Fafif
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 Poche was re-signed.Zach Poop will probably be re-signed to a $5 million big league deal and put in the closer's role.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 MetsSC would have been proud to have coined a name like Zach Poop.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 I stole it from Johnny Lunchbucket.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Poche was re-signed.Zach Poop will probably be re-signed to a $5 million big league deal and put in the closer's role. I stand Poche-corrected.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 I kinda thought he looked good.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 I remember thinking he was just another stupid transient Stearns acquisition. And I was right! I'm sure Billy Eppler and Brodie are still available if you'd rather have them.I give Stearns the benefit of the doubt.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 I kinda thought he looked good. He was unscored upon in two appearances over four and two-thirds glorious innings (to the extent that mopup innings in a losing cause can be glorious). He gave up one hit and no walks and it is really hard to score when you don't reach base. Not only did he strike out three, but the names of those three guys were DJ Lemahieu, Aaron Judge, and Gunnar Henderson. Kinda indeed!Stay Stupid, Stearns!

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 They should give Jared Porter another shot.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Wasn't Jared Porter the one who had a few too many shots ... and chasers?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 He had a very short tenure, but he did swing the Francisco Lindor trade, so that will forever be on the plus side of his ledger.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Wasn't Jared Porter the one who had a few too many shots ... and chasers? IIRC, he TOOK too many shots - of his thingie, and sent them to office personnel. Or was that the other short term GM?Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Now belongs to the Yankees And now he belongs to us again.Sounds like he'll be back tomorrow to replace Herget who'll likely get a ticket to SYR following his contributions tonight.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Jared Porter is now the cofounder of "Blend" providing mental health services to athletes. Really
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 That is true and it is terrific. Also terrific is the statement above that the Mets have grabbed Rico Garcia back from the Yankees, as surely as U2 grabbed "Helter Skelter" back from Charles Manson.Good things come back.Bad things sometimes return also, of course, but still.
