I'm going to have to escalate this. I was essentially told to figure it out myself (not in so many words) but if I can't get satisfaction I'll look for another hosting company.

I was just about to remark how much better it is this afternoon ... and then it balked and delayed at allowing my last post to go through.

Looking at the log files, ultimatemets.com has had a larger number of hits in February and March than in any of the twelve previous months. I suspect that most of the additional traffic is, sadly, non-human. But I talked with customer support and for a nominal increase in cost (just five dollars per month) we're being migrated to a higher-capacity server. This will go into effect some time today, if it hasn't already.

I was just looking at some site metrics, and found that in the last month, 60 percent of traffic came from Georgia (the U.S. state, not the Eastern European country) and was sourced from Facebook's site in Ireland, somehow. I've blocked the series of IP addresses used by Meta Ireland in Georgia. We'll have to see if that helps.

Nope. Slower tonight than it was this afternoon and than it's been in a while (for me anyway).

I was on with customer support again this morning, and they told me there are too many background processes, but wouldn't explain further.

They can't explain, they are not allowed to explain, there's nothing

they can do about it, and lastly these companies don't care about the

outdated phpBB people!

Err, I mean don't care about the outdated phpBB forum platform.

I wonder if forums such as ours are passé, and thus aren’t kept up to speed

I hope that’s not the case.

I wish this thread was in the general forum because I have to keep logging in to read it

(I know, ‘wah’)

I used the word 'outdated' twice in my post.

Maybe whippoorcoobs has blocked me.
