whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 It does seem a little better though
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2025 Posted March 24, 2025 I'm going to have to escalate this. I was essentially told to figure it out myself (not in so many words) but if I can't get satisfaction I'll look for another hosting company.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 Another hosting comp would be last resort? Assuming that would entail starting over?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2025 Posted March 25, 2025 I was just about to remark how much better it is this afternoon ... and then it balked and delayed at allowing my last post to go through.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Looking at the log files, ultimatemets.com has had a larger number of hits in February and March than in any of the twelve previous months. I suspect that most of the additional traffic is, sadly, non-human. But I talked with customer support and for a nominal increase in cost (just five dollars per month) we're being migrated to a higher-capacity server. This will go into effect some time today, if it hasn't already.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 It would be super if we could just get rid of the creepy crawlers. Thank you Ben!
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Great, thanks Ben. Let's go Mets 2025!
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Just in time for opening day
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2025 Author Posted March 28, 2025 Boy does this website continue to suck.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2025 Posted April 6, 2025 This website is slower than a snail riding a turtle walking through molasses on a -20 degree day!
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2025 Posted April 9, 2025 You should demand your $5 back
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2025 Posted April 9, 2025 I was just looking at some site metrics, and found that in the last month, 60 percent of traffic came from Georgia (the U.S. state, not the Eastern European country) and was sourced from Facebook's site in Ireland, somehow. I've blocked the series of IP addresses used by Meta Ireland in Georgia. We'll have to see if that helps.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2025 Posted April 9, 2025 I did notice the lesser number of ‘visitors’Thank you Ben!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 9, 2025 Posted April 9, 2025 I've blocked the series of IP addresses used by Meta Ireland in Georgia. We'll have to see if that helps. Nope. Slower tonight than it was this afternoon and than it's been in a while (for me anyway).
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 I was on with customer support again this morning, and they told me there are too many background processes, but wouldn't explain further. They can't explain, they are not allowed to explain, there's nothingthey can do about it, and lastly these companies don't care about theoutdated phpBB people! Err, I mean don't care about the outdated phpBB forum platform.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Yesterday evening and night was rough
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 I wonder if forums such as ours are passé, and thus aren’t kept up to speed I hope that’s not the case. I wish this thread was in the general forum because I have to keep logging in to read it (I know, ‘wah’)
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 I used the word 'outdated' twice in my post. Maybe whippoorcoobs has blocked me.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted April 10, 2025 Posted April 10, 2025 Not at all that’s where I got my idea from
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted April 11, 2025 Posted April 11, 2025 Maybe we need one of those "prove you're a human" thingies
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2025 Posted April 13, 2025 You need to download more RAM.
