Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM Posted yesterday at 01:00 AM So November 1st, as some of youse may or may not know, is the unofficial/official anniversary of the CPF. There actually is no 'Day One' to commemorate, but it was on or about this date, in the midst of the 9/11-delayed World Series (the first one to go into November) that we stopped using this nascent site as a refuge from the increasing madness of the previous 'MoFo' site, and started settling in to make it our permanent home. And (doing some quick math) that this makes today as close as we're going to get to the CPF's 25th anniversary. Wait, 25 fucking years????? It can't be that long. Well this thread -- https://grandcentralmets.com/forums/topic/91228-a-decade-of-cranepooling/ -- still in our archives from 15 years ago today, suggests that it certainly is possible. The only sad part about that thread is that the links off of it which led to even earlier threads no longer are active. Such a pity. So enjoy a stroll through the past, if you care to, back to the day when some of your grown or nearly grown children didn't yet exist.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 01:11 AM Posted yesterday at 01:11 AM 25 years is insane. I love this place and all you crazy folks.

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago 25 years of shitty Mets baseball! 01: Frustrating and ultimately sharply disappointing and unnerving year. 02: Steve Phillips Frankenstein year leads to Valentine firing 03: Howe Era begins, Phillips fired, team sucks cock but Reyes debuts 04: Duquette Era kneecapped from the start, Kazmir trade, Wilpons self-destruct, Wright arrives 05: Omar begins era of showy free agent deals, march toward respectability. In many ways, the best year of the CPF era. 06: Omar completes near powerhouse, but team struggles with injuries and slumps late, falls short of winnable WS 07: Slump continues all year, intensifies in historic collapse 08: Willie gets whacked, 2nd collapse, Omar & Jerry pointlessly re-upped 09: New stadium opens as a monument to management's dismissiveness of fan base and ignorance of relevant history, Bernazard bizarreness, team sucks 10: Jerry lame-ducks the team to new lows, Omar deservedly fired, management discovers fan-friendliness only as a means to shield coming financial disaster 11: Financial woes -- not baseball woes! -- necessitate radical changes and birth of long-term financial and operational turnaround. 12: Santana no-hitter, Dickey Cy Young, OK start but 24 games out a yearend 13: All-Star Game or the first time since 64, but out of contention all year, same record (74-88) as 2012. Wheeler joins Harvey in rotattion 14: deGrom debuts, Colon arrives, Harvey out, Duda takes over from Davis. Promising year but never really in contention 15: Best season of the CPF era? Grandy, Conforto, Muffy, Syndergaard. Losing a winnable World Series hurts 16: Exciting buildup but ultimately disappointing 1 and out playoff appearance. Lotta injuries 17: 92-loss season ends the Terry Era. Everyone gut injured 18: Mickey Era begins; 11-1 start wasted by June; Nimmo establishes himself; Wright says goodbe;deGrom with the Cy Young 19: Brodie Era begins with cringey note to fans, team has a decent year (86-76) behind deGrom and newcomer Pete Alonso; new arrivals Cano and Diaz suck 20: Pandemic; Mickey fired between seasons on inappropriate conduct; Beltran hire then fired, Luis Rojas takes the reigns. Forgettable 26-34 year capped news that Cohen would buy the Mets and Brodie would hit the road 21: Sandy returns as president. Jared Porter named GM but dick-pick scandal outs him after a month (a month that included the Lindor trade); Zack Scott named GM, makes the Javier Baez-Pete Crow Armstrong trade, team finished in 3rd place anyway 22: Buck Showalter era begins. Billy Eppler Era also behins. Awesome year (101 wins!) with a disappointing wild-card finish. McNutty wins the batting title. Max Scherzer arrives 23: Cohen buys Verlander, team is a massive disappointment 24: New leadership in Mendy & Stearns. Magical year behind stealth pitching acquisitions like Manaea and Severino, spirit from Jose Iglesias & the Grmace. Darn near made the World Series 25: Adds Juan Soto, team has a great start but rapidly drops 26: Stearns fucks up the roster, terrible start costs Mendy his job, Green takes over MFS62 1
