Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Just saw a guy post this: I was 8 years old in 1969 living in Puyallup, Washington. The Pilots had just been awarded an expansion franchise. Never got to a game. Always thought we’d have more time. Go Brewers. Ouch.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Author Posted 5 hours ago Well this is an unexpected turn of events.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Joe Davis just said Milwaukee is successful because they value bat to ball skills. The Brewers struck out 1383 times. 11th most in baseball. The Mets struck out 22 times less. 13th in MLB.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I'm thinking those strikeout rankings suggest the Mets could be soon winning a championship. Or something something. Of course the Brewers had 188 more plate appearances, because they were better, but looking up and down the strikeout rankings, it seems most teams are pretty clustered around the mean.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Amazing to have a knuckle curve pitcher out there trying to lock down a championship. He's got 99, but he's using that to set up the knuckle curve.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Well that's that. Congrats to the Milwaukee Brucers.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Teams with a longer World Series drought than the Mets (1986): Guardians (1948) Padres (never -- since 1969) Mariners (never -- since 1977) Pirates (1979) Orioles (1983) Tigers (1984)
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Congratulations to the Brewers. They took out the Padres, Dodgers and the Rays. No one can say their road was easy.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago Meanwhile, AL champions since 2008: - Tampa Bay Rays = 3 - other four AL East teams combined = 5 [NYY x 2 - 2009, 2024], [BOS x 2 - 2013, 2018], TOR [2025], [BAL = 0] Go ahead Manfred, make the case for small market teams being unable to compete minus a cap!
