Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Little rest for the (sort of) weary as the Braves jet it to the left coast to start their next round less than 48 hours after needing three consecutive games to dispose of the Phillies. Game 1 - Saturday 4PM EDT (1 PM local time), FOX The Braves will throw the always popular TBD to kick things off while the Dodgers counter with newcomer Tarik Skubal Regular season: LAD (100 wins) 1 -- 5 vs Braves (94)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 5 Author Posted October 5 So the Braves are essentially saying, "we don't need no stinkin' starters' and are managing the series so far with relievers you've barely heard of. Ten different pitchers have held the Dodgers to 7 runs over two games including getting a combined 13 innings with just one run allowed by such notable names as: Dylan Dodd [3.0 IP]; Didier Fuentes [3.2]; Ray Kerr [2.2]; Dylan Lee [0.2]; Robert Suarez [1.0] and Brent Suter [2.0] They'll counter with Chris Sale when the series resumes on Tuesday but I don't even know where they go from there. It's why I have to pull for the Dodgers in this series as I have to plan for who I think will be the potential best antidote for the Yanquis if it comes to that and I can't imagine this kind of patchwork staff thriving for the next two and a half series.

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Rooting for Braves. Sick of the Dodgers and their players

My NL order of preference is MIL - SDP - LAD - then ATL, those last two in that order for reasons stated above. AL I'm going TBR - CLE - CHW - Proud Boys - Medellin Cartel - Taliban- ..... - Yankees whippoorwill 1
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted October 6 Posted October 6 What is it with Kiké Hernández? As soon as the post-season starts, he turns into a freakin' slugger. What the Dodgers get from him in the post-season is so much greater than what he does all season. whippoorwill 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 Dodgers with a two-run lead and they're turning to Edwin Díaz for the save. Lousy and injury interrupted season for Diaz but his last five games were near perfect [5 innings, 1 H, 1 BB, 0 R]
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 Leadoff double - GO 1 out, runner on 3rd, tying run at plate side note: I can't believe braves fans are still doing that dumb chant
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Geez, even Karl Ehrhardt took off his fedora
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 foul fly for 2nd out -- Mike Yastrzemski to PH ... and he grounds out and the Dodgers win. Lead series 2 - 1
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I dislike the Brewers the most, I'm ok with the Padres

Kike career: 706 OPS; post-season OPS = 826 (before tonight) Regular season HRs: 1 HR per 32 ABs; Post Season: 1 HR per 17 ABs The Hot Corner 1
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Isn't there argument that no one is "clutch"? This may not be that but it smells close

I didn't even look up his stats. I just remember that he seems almost invisible during the regular season, then suddenly gets multiple big hits in the post-season.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted October 8 Posted October 8 Braves done. Today off to a good start.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted October 8 Posted October 8 That dropped popout is going to be a tough brand for Mauricio Dubon to wear into free agency. A small-time team will probably try to buy low on him.
