I don't want to speak ill of Trevor Williams, but it seems odd that he's the guy on the bump with the season on the line.  He had a terrible season in 2025, ending with internal brace UCL surgery, and only debuted in 2026 at the end of July.

By the time he got a few appearances in, the Nats were crashing, but it was too late to trade him, so they just cut him loose and the Rangers signed him on September 1.
