1:40 start, Cesar Perdomo vs Christian Scott

Perdomo is a 24 y/o hefty lefty (5' 10" / 219) Venezuelan making his second ML appearance. His ML debut came five days ago in relief when he threw four innings of one run / 3 hit / 1 BB / 4 K ball in a game where the Giants and Pirates combined for 25 runs so he came out smelling relatively good that day. HIs minor league track record, split this year between AA Richmond and AAA  isn't anything stellar [4.43 ERA / 1.300 WHIP] but he's up because anyone else who can pitch for SFG is either on the IL or was dealt at the trading deadline.

C'mon now guys, we don't want to lose a series to this crew in their current condition. You'll be dragging that scar around with you all winter.

Lefty pitcher. I hope that means Vientos will be in the lineup.

I feel like we are facing a lot of lefties lately.

say what you want about Vientos. I think his spot in the lineup highlights how badly this team needs a RH power bat.

Anyshmutz, Scott has mowed through the first six.

The Mets booth is speculating that young viewers don't know who Aretha Franklin is.  This, of course, has been a real concern at least since Steely Dan released "Hey Nineteen" in 1980.  And, of course, now young viewers are probably even less likely to know who Steely Dan is.

Hey, applaud that inning!  We got a runner to third and stuff!

But waited until there were two outs to get a deep fly.

Mets are 5th from the bottom in Sac Flies for the season. That could be a measure of opportunity or of timing ... or both.

I really appreciate Kodai Senga's non-Devin Williamsiness.

They both have the same problem of having a name-brand off-speed pitch (Ghost ForkTM/AirbenderTM) that they can be shy about throwing for a strike, but Senga has the high heater to at least keep batters honest.

I'm so happy I could pee!

I just did.

14 up / 13 down for the bullpen. Only the Devers single off Semien's glove kept Lavander / Pintaro / Myers / Senga [1, 6, 3, 3 outs] from being perfect.
