Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Jomboy with the breakdown of a hugely dramatic Little League game between New Jersey and Connecticut for the Metro Region championship.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 20 Author Posted August 20 First three comments on YouTube under that vid: Quote “Mom, I don’t need a ride, Rincon is going to drive me home” Quote Rincon buying everyone beers after the game... whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I start this topic every year and I know not all of us watch it but I still do :) it is POURING here. Not sure how they’ll get any games in today but they’re shooting for 3 pm
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I watched it last night a little. Was hoping to be there in person but we got bounced in sectionals. All of our kids were relatively normal-sized. :p bayonnes got a beast in rincon, as another thread just a little down from this one points to. monster home run last night to walk it off. whippoorwill 1
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted August 20 Posted August 20 He’s a big tall kid. Homer last night against New England was quite a shot.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 That's Kinley Rasmus of Phenix City, AL. She is one of only two girls among the rosters of the 20 teams in the tournament, and just threw six scoreless innings of two-hit ball. But Little League has a mandatory rule that forces a manager to pull the pitcher after reaching a maximum pitch count, and after the scoreless game went to extras, her team's bullpen couldn't hold on, and they lost to Washington. I don't have any reporting to support this notion, but I've got to strongly suspect Kinley is the daughter of Colby Rasmus, as he also represented Phenix City in the LLWS back in 1999. Unlike Colby, though, she did it all with a white ribbon in her hair. Kinley Rasmus, just the 9th girl to pitch in the Little League World Series, punched out eight over six scoreless innings, allowing just a single hit! pic.twitter.com/mbVKuVAOU1 — Baseball Quotes (@BaseballQuotes1) August 20, 2026

Niece. She is the daughter of Cory Rasmus (also a former MLB player).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 And looking him up, Cory was also on that Phenix City '99 team.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 Down here in Phenix City, the are known as the Rasmi. The two twins, Jimbly and Pastely, headed into Tupelo and nary a soul has heard from them since.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted August 21 Posted August 21 I didn’t know that there was already a LLWS thread and I love that there are two!!! MFS62 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 21 Author Posted August 21 Iowa/Colorado seemed like the sort of contest you want to see. A one-nothing score as Iowa's starting pitcher shut out 15 and yielded zero hits. The underdog Iowa had only two outs to go when they swapped pitchers, with the reliever finding himself with the bags juiced, two outs and a full count on the batter. Thrillingly, he got the call, and the strikeout, and Iowa walked off with the win and the combined no-hitter. Unfortunately, well, he got the call on this pitch. Iowa completes the combined no-hitter! 🔥 Anthony Johnson Jr. finishes the job after Cooper Thissen struck out 15 in less than 6 innings 👏 pic.twitter.com/9AhrsA7uZ7 — ESPN (@espn) August 21, 2026 Umping is hard. whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Can’t believe the size of these kids. Some of you may remember that over the years I have fallen in love with a Hawaiian team and also that a team from my own hometown (Keystone ) recently was in the LLWS. so as well as it being a local fun event, it’s pretty much been a part of my whole life. But I love all the teams and I don’t care who wins. 😍⚾️ MFS62 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 23 Author Posted August 23 This coach loves his kids. You know he does because he actually calls time out to gather them at the moun so he can tell them. So why does he leave young Braeden Dyer (a Duffy descendent?) in for several innings with a non-functional right arm? whippoorwill 1
