This marks the Mets third four-game winning streak* in 2026 (I think I've IGT'd two of them now so am taking full credit for both). They've not won five in a row all year.

 

* Games 8 thru 11 [at SFG x 3 then the first game home vs ARZ]

- Games #53 thru 59 to close out May: the final game of a series vs Cincy followed by a series sweep of the Marlins (all at home).

The Pirates did everything wrong in that ninth inning — they swung when they shouldn't have swung, ran when they shouldn't have run, and didn't run when they should have run.

Williams did his best to give them the game anyhow.

I'm trying to think that maybe he's like Edwin Diaz, losing himself in year one with the team and then finding himself in year two, but right now, he is certainly an unwelcome presence to see stepping up to the mic at the karaoke bar in my head.

I don't watch the games (bad for my heart and blood pressure) so I just follow through the box scores. So I knew there had to be a reason other than pitch count or the third time around the lineup thing.
