Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 Well, of course it is. I was surprised it took this long to remember him. Of course, Jason was only kind of a backup catcher, playing full-time-ish for a bit, alternating with Piazza between catcher and first. Here he is catching, while rocking a batting helmet brim-forward — like a nut. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 So, no answers. I'm back from task one — taking the Mazda to the shop — and I'm here for Clue #2. You'll notice Homey does not have a nameplate or a Mets logo over his locker. This is because the hazing incident in question did not take place as a Met, but with another team. It is however, from a road trip into New York, and the rookies in question actually visited Times Square in their costumes.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Unfortunately, the photo is lost, presumably forever. (It had been at http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/2834/girlsqu1.png) And the marriage didn't last either. Mike Nickeas married Rebecca in 2007, but now he's married to Christa. At the time we were inappropriately discussing his wife's bridesmaids, Mike had never played above AA Binghamton. Interesting that he came to our attention.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Hard to believe it was nineteen years ago!

Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Quote Winona Ryder after a boating accident. Quote Not that I watch erotic thrillers or anything. Quote i took your advice and told him that if he married me, i'd finally let him fuck me in the ass. That pretty much sealed the deal. Now, if you'll excuse me.... whippoorwill 1

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I am intrigued by the name on the front and back of the uniform thing. I first thought of Claudell Washington and Daryl Boston, but neither were catchers and I don't think Boston was ever a Red Sock anyway. And Claudell may have been a Washington Senator, but I don't think so. And I don't think the Mets ever had a catcher named "White Sox" or "Devil Rays". whippoorwill 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 30 Author Posted July 30 Appeared in as many as 96 games for the Mets, due to injuries to others, but actually was a third-stringer for a not insignificant period.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 30 Posted July 30 I also wish I could see that wedding photo. In 2007 I likened Squinty to Big Ethel and I'm wondering if I would still make that comparison. whippoorwill 1
