seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Posted July 10 This is the most bananas linescore I've ever seen. The game also included twenty walks and four HBPs. Game time: somehow, only 3:57. BASEBALL! Johnny Lunchbucket 1
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I get a kick out of those minor league games in which a team can get a gazillion runs on five hits. But not when teams do it to the Mets. Later
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It's not often that you see a game where both teams have an 11-run inning.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Author Posted July 10 Right? Up 16-0 through three, and then they gave up 14 runs in the next four innings. Wild.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Posted July 10 What league is this? Who are IE and ONT?
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I assume California League. Inland Empire 66ers are IE. I had to look up ONT to see they're the Ontario Tower Buzzers. They must be kinda new, because I've never heard of them. seawolf17 1
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Author Posted July 10 Yup. Did a little Googling. The Tower Buzzers are the single-A Dodgers affiliate this season, "replacing" the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, who still exist but are now an Angels' Cal League single-A team. The IE 66ers are affiliated with the Mariners this season, after being affiliated with the Angels previously. The Modesto Nuts, who were the M's A team, relocated to San Bernardino and took on the IE 66ers name.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Do we know the significance of the number 66 in the Inland Empire? Is it about Route 66?
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Author Posted July 10 Yes, I think it goes through downtown San Bernardino.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I would love to have watched this game. I wonder if fans of minor league teams care about wins and losses like MLB fans. can you imagine if the Mets were on the verge of losing a game they led 16-0? (and yes I remember the game they got blown out 16-12 after leading 9-4)
