The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Shut out watch gone as well.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Well, having a lead was nice while it lasted. Cleveland playing station to station, but they just keep getting hits.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 I wonder if Holmes will get pulled from the rotation when Megill comes back. What's troubling is the guy closest to being back is Paul Blackburn This game is starting to look like last nights
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 I think Montas is at greater risk of losing his spot in the rotation upon Megill's return. I doubt Blackburn is much of a threat to take anyone's rotation spot. As bad as Montas has been, Blackburn has been even worse this season (looking at ERA & WHIP).
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Nimmo is completely lost at the plate in this series.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Another game, another starting pitcher that can't get through (or is allowed to) get through 6 innings. For the Mets, virtually every game is a bullpen game of sorts.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Holmes had 75 pitches through 5 and was pulled! Unless he's on some sort of undisclosed pitch count/limit, I can't make sense of that decision.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Matt Festa threw one inning for the Mets in 2024 and gave up 5 runs.In his one inning (so far) tonight the Mets don't get the ball out of the infield. When you can't even hit Festa I think it's time to cry 'Uncle'
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Sorry if i missed this elsewhere, but why does the grass look so shitty at Citi lately?
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Cleveland demonstrating that if you just keep putting the ball in play, good things can happen. Three soft hit singles give them the lead.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 The Guardians have six hits in this game, all singles. But they're winning because they have three hits in the 4th to net two runs and now three consecutive hits in the 7th for another.

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Meanwhile, the Phillies beat the Orioles 5-0.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Last Met to get the ball out of the infield was Lindor leading off the 5th.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 The Mets just won seven in a row. Looks like a different team

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Gary: Shea Langeliers (of MIL) didn't get his 4th HR but he does have five hits tonight [and 13 total bases].Me: The Mets have four [and five]
roger_that Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Hard to blame Rogers for giving them the lead. Those were barely hits, off balls out of the strike zone.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Gwreck was right. Offense needed to be addressed.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 Vogt going with his closer in the 9th in back to back games. He should just use a position player instead, the result will be the same.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5, 2025 Posted August 5, 2025 If it comes down to Taylor against a righthander in the ninth, do you send up Baty, Mauricio, or Mullins.Gotta be Ronny, right?
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Rogers was definitely a victim of bad luck tonight. Cleveland though keeps putting the ball in play. They hit a lot of balls to the opposite field rather than swinging for the fences.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2025 Author Posted August 5, 2025 Hopefully, Smith is tired from last night. They have to lay off the high fastball. He blew the Mets away last night.I'm hoping McNeil can get to him.
