Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Gelbs (on India's double): 'Diving stop by Vientos ... but he can't reach it'Kind of reminds me of the old days of Jim Gordon on NY Ranger telecasts. - Shot on goal ... wide- Puck is cleared ... but not out- Shot ... is a passGordon had a good voice. good cadence, knew the game, but constantly tried to call everything a half second Before it happened which, particularly in a constant action sport like hockey, becomes essentially a fatal flaw.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Damn, noticed that too from Gelbs
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Weird how, like the Phils, the Royals have brought back their old road baby blues, so they can wear them at home. That ain't right. The Mets should counter with home whites.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 One over the minimum thru three innnings for Montas.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 I hope they win a championship this year, because there is no way they are going to be able to re-sign this Soto guy at the end of the season.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Frankie Montas and the first record from Springsteen's new collection = pretty good.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 "Frankie Montas — it's not like we signed him hoping to lose!"
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Nice job getting out of that jam!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 I don't know if it's just my impression, but most of the action these last two games has seemingly been shot from a wide angle.Maybe they don't get select spots for camera positions here, or maybe the stands are too far from the action, or maybe I don't know what I am talking about, but the broadcast feels old-timey.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 That was a nice hook by Mendy. Great job by Reed!
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 The free baserunners. Throw strikes devenski.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Did I sleep through Acuña entering this game? Vientos didn't get hurt or anything, right?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 As has been the case in most of our recent games, just 4 hits (1 double, 1 HR) thru 7 innings.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Another tickytack replay review. I dunno Mendy
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 This would be something if the Mets get this call again.Diaz throwing like he's back on the Spider Tack, so at least he gets a breather.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 WOW!!!The Mets are replay review alchemists!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 I love this call and DESPISE IT at the same time.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Wow that's crazy, this is like VAR , good idea but....
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 Maybe part of the game is knowing which umps are in the replay booth on a given day, and what type of appeals they are sympathetic toward.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 12, 2025 Posted July 12, 2025 We used to have a Whiffle Ball rule. "nothing cheap." Slowly hit squib between the pitcher and first base? Cheap. Doesn't count. Fair ot foul? If you have to argue it's fair, that's cheap. Doesn't count. MLB should adopt the cheap rule.
