Kind of reminds me of the old days of Jim Gordon on NY Ranger telecasts.

Gordon had a good voice. good cadence, knew the game, but constantly tried to call everything a half second Before it happened

which, particularly in a constant action sport like hockey, becomes essentially a fatal flaw.

I don't know if it's just my impression, but most of the action these last two games has seemingly been shot from a wide angle.



Maybe they don't get select spots for camera positions here, or maybe the stands are too far from the action, or maybe I don't know what I am talking about, but the broadcast feels old-timey.

Maybe part of the game is knowing which umps are in the replay booth on a given day, and what type of appeals they are sympathetic toward.

We used to have a Whiffle Ball rule. "nothing cheap." Slowly hit squib between the pitcher and first base? Cheap. Doesn't count. Fair ot foul? If you have to argue it's fair, that's cheap. Doesn't count.



MLB should adopt the cheap rule.
