Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Trying for two wins in a row, something we haven't seen 'round these parts since the days when the Rox, Sox, and Nats dominated our schedule. But, as bad as things have gone recently, a win here at least somewhat rights the ship. We're still just 1/2 game out of 1st and a win tonight notonly gets a split but will leave us 10 full games ahead of the Braves despite losing five of seven. That's why you build up big leads, so you canweather the tough spots.Griffin Canning faces [CROSSOUT]Ryne Stanek[/CROSSOUT] Grant Holmes for the Braves.Holmes (we missed a Holmes vs Homes matchup by one day!!) is easily mistaken for Stanek as both are thick built RH'ers who are former 1st round draft picks (22nd & 29th) and both appear to go to (and/or avoid) the same barber.Holmes, 29, didn't get a call to the majors until last year despite his draft status. He was traded once and then picked up by Atlanta two years ago after being released by the A's but spent all of '23 in the minors. This year: 15 starts, 4-6, 3.71, 1.22

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 PHI loses to HOU this afternoon, so reclaiming first is in the balance.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 ERA in the mid 3's. Career WHIP of 1.207.That's a pretty good find for a career minor leaguer.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Also. This is the Griffin Canning revenge game. The Braves traded Soler for Canning then non-tendered him.If Griffin has any sack he'll make them pay tonight.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Magic number down to 83. They need to go 43-38 the rest of the way to be a 90-win club, which should be doable.Mets should keep Brandon Waddell around for more than a game at a time. He's the kind of guy you use until he tanks and, with a 1.114 WHIP, he hasn't tanked yet.
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Even though Soto's grounder wasn't fielded cleanly, I was certain that the Braves would get the out. I was certain even though the camera was focused on the Braves first baseman, Matt Olson, and I thus had no idea how close Soto had gotten to first base. I knew because the weak link in Soto's game is that he doesn't hustle out of the box. He just doesn't. And there's no way to sugarcoat it.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Well that sucks , Canning looks in a lot of pain, spiked it looks like
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Looked bad. This pitching staff is cursed.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Author Posted June 26, 2025 That looked very achilles/season to me.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 I don't know if he's ready but Brandon Sproat could get a start
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Author Posted June 26, 2025 A 6-3 groundout without a pitcher injury ... so that's an improvement!
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 This is getting hard to watch each night
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Nothing hard to watch at my end. The Mets are going to send Weird Al to the showers.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Oh no. I feel awful for Griffin Canning. Gotta stretch out Butto at this point.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Time for Nolan McLean perhaps?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 McLean has been very good from the get go
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Austin Warren may still be in the dugout, but when he gets back to his locker, there are going to be about three kegs of Schaefer.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Mets getting that energy back
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 One of the best things about McNeil this year is his ability to spit on breaking pitches down and in.
