Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Fun team to root for. I had to pass on watching this as to go do something my wife chose for us to do that did not involve watching baseball.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2025 Posted June 11, 2025 Peterson is the man.Mets have their best record since the last day of the 2022 season.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 That was fun. I especially liked that all 9 players got in a circle afterward to celebrate. That was cool.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 In the postgame interview with Steve Gelbs, Peterson referred a couple of times to "Louie". In context, it sounded like he was referring to Carlos Mendoza. Is Mendoza "Louie"? Or was I hearing incorrectly? I haven't been this confused since Jay-or-Reese Familia.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 There is a Louie that works in one of the chop shops , maybe it's him
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 In baseball practice, virtually every Luis gets tagged with Louie in the clubhouse. Since there are no Luises on the Mets coaching staff, it stands to reason that he was referring to his catcher, Luis Torrens.

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 Just for context, this was Peterson's 98th career start as a Met, his second CG and his first shutout.Tom Seaver holds the club record for complete game shutouts in a career, having done it 44 times. Only seven other Mets (Kooz, Matlack, Gooden, Cone, Darling and Al Jackson) ever threw even ten of them as a Met.In his first three seasons, to make a more rough comparison to Peterson in terms of number of games started, Seaver started 104 games, completing 50 (!) of them, with 12 shutouts.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted June 12, 2025 Posted June 12, 2025 Peterson was magical last night. This season is becoming magical.Last year it was Severino's complete game shutout and Winker's walk off that really made me feel like it was a magical, playoff-destined team. Well, I'm starting to get that feeling again, and we're only in June.
