Today's game features a matchup between two starting pitchers who started postseason games for the Mets last season.

Has this ever happened before? Yes! Five times!

In 2000, Masato Yoshii, now with the Rockies, faced Rick Reed twice. In 2001, Mike Hampton, also a Rockie, one with well-educated children, faced Reed once and Al Leiter once. And also in 2001, Bobby Jones of the Padres faced Reed once.

It seems rather odd that there are two ML players named Max Muncy, particularly that they're playing simultaneously.

I mean, it's not a name like Bobby Jones, Bob Miller, or Luis Castillo. I think we need sportswriter Max Mercy to investigate this.

That's pretty funny lol...

The SACletics keep handing the Mets walks and errors and Met bats keep handing them back.

Other than running up the pitch count on Severino, that was a waste of a half inning.

Coming into the game today, the Mets have 18 hits and 35 RBIs in 117 ABs w/RiSP this season.

Pete has five of those hits [1 single, 1 double, 3 HRs] and 14 of the RBIs

No, Matsato Yoshii was a pitcher.

You're thinking of OF'er Tsuyoshi Shinjo

Haha! Yep I remember someone nicknamed him ‘Hop'

I was a little surprised to see Alonso in the lineup today

Think they can make a one-run lead hold up for four more innings?

I think we have reason to be a lot more confident in the bullpen than the offense?

Maybe. I feel like Vientos is beating himself; one of the things Vientos was good at last year was not getting distracted by anything. He looks defeated before he gets up now.
