Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Do you think that is our Opening Day top five?

I don't know if this is the order in which they bat though. Certainly I'd slot these dudes ahead of the projected remaining Opening Day guys (McNeil, Siri, Alvarez and Winker/Marte).I would assume also that Alvarez bats sixth in this configuration.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Nimmo at cleanup feels weird, but I can see that it's because of the desire to alternate lefties and righties. I think I'd flip Alonso and Vientos. That change may come to pass later in the season.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 The Mets are up 5-0 in the 4th.Soto has a homer.Sproat with 2 scoreless innings, no hits, one K. Later
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Lindor + Acuna look particularly smooth as your SS/2B combo out there
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Who taught these kids how to apply eye black, anyway? They look like would-be MCU characters out there
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 Looking back at a Spring Training moment:On this date in 1969 The Mets held their first full team workout in St. Petersburg, Florida. Later

I don't particularly go for putting your most productive hitter second.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 In theory, batting Soto second instead of fourth would get him 36 extra plate appearances over the course of the season. I don't really have a feel for whether or not that would have a significant impact on game outcomes, but my guess is that it wouldn't. Maybe I'd go Lindor/Nimmo/Vientos/Soto/Alonso.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted February 28, 2025 Posted February 28, 2025 25 year old Luis Moreno pitched two perfect innings and struck out all six batters he faced. He has been in the Mets organization since he signed out of the Dominican Republic and has only pitched a few ineffective games above AA but has averaged around a K per inning at all levels.. Good for him today.Maybe some time in major league camp with Heffner has made something click.Later
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 1, 2025 Posted March 1, 2025 Mets beat Tampa Rays 10-1Blade Tidwell and Dom Hammel each pitched two scoreless innings.Nice to see.Siri with a three run homer.Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2025 Posted March 2, 2025 One of Tidwell's innings, the second of his two, was an 'Immaculate Inning' [9 pitches, 9 strikes]

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 So I turn on a ST game for the first time this year just in time to see a Vientos 2R 1st inning HR.I think that means it's going to be a fun year.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 6 - Zip Mets, still batting in the 1st after a Bugs Bunny Bat Around!Starting pitcher for the Nats removed in favor of reliever Marquis Grissom Jr.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2025 Posted March 9, 2025 Just saw my first pitch challenge. Clay Homes challenged a ball called on an 0-2 ... and lost. Struck the dude out on the next pitch anyway.
