Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 This one will maybe be not so cut 'n dried as most questions regarding the MFYsWould you rather see them advance to the WS and a potential 2000 rematch or not?Upside to the Yanx winning:- there's only one: Mets also win making a subsequent WS win the best of all possible winsUpside to Cleveland winning:- it kicks the Yanx streak of not even making it to a WS (y'know, that thing the team and fans alike treat as a birthright) up to 15, tying the stretch from '81 to '96 and before that the longest since Babe Ruth was an actual babe- it obviously gives the Yanx a shot at winning it all no matter who their NL opponent is- and of course, the biggie: it gives them a shot at winning the WS through us which would be ... oh I don't even have to tell you

So, as nice as it would be to meet them and beat them, the consequences if NOT succeeding in that plus the concept of rooting for their success just to get there are ideas I don't want to entertain.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Regardless of who the Yankees are matched up against, I could never bring myself to pull for them. My favorite teams are the Mets and secondarily, whoever is playing the Yankees.Go Guardians!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 If a subway series happens, it happens. But we don't root for the Yankees here.
