Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Wow. Who could have seen this coming….wait, what's that, you say? The National Weather Service made it perfectly clear more than a day ago? This is a colossally stupid failure by MLB to not play these games in a neutral site, either today, tomorrow, or both.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Given how yesterday went I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing. I wasn't keen on seeing Sale today and now they can just go stomp the Brewers and lock this thing up.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Tiebreaker needs to go to the team not responsible for actvating contingency plans.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I guess the Braves will be forced to use Sale and Fried against the Royals. If the double-header comes to pass, then it looks likely that we'll get Schwelly and either Grant Holmes or Charlie Morton.Just still gotta TCB. Seriously.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 If I were one of the teams and was given the choice between accepting the lower seed or playing the games and taking my chances I'd opt not to play. The difference between being a 5-seed or a 6 is barely a difference if it even is one at all. And to go further, with Milwaukee being the higher seed (#3)to the loser of the Dodgers/Padres race (#4) I'd rather be the #6 and play the Brewers anyway. And if you survive the first round is there really some great advantage to facing the Phils vs the NL West winner?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Also, just to reiterate, the games are off for Wednesday & Thursday but Friday is the day when Helene is supposed to be directly over Georgia! So that's five games for the Braves in three days unless this storm hangs a quick left as it rolls north along I-75

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 So, this is our playoff bye.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Mets are travel-hardened from all the August road-tripping. Bring on the Manfred machinations.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 Talk about shit shows. There's still a decent chance of eliminating Arizona over the weekend. That's the best case scenario, obviously.
