Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Does Booty return to start the bottom of the eighth?
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Ahead 1-2 to the #9 hitter and he throws 3 straight "no doubter" balls to bring the tying run to the plate.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Walks kill. Just like that it's all tied up.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Rats. Walks always seem to bite them in the butt. Butto just as not been sharp lately.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Hell of an effort by Lindor on Bogaert's grounder in the hole, but his throw was just a little too late.

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Everyone knew this game would suck about an hour ago. Right?
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Saurez was throwing some serious heat, most of it on the black, in the 9th.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 First things firstShut the Padres down here and now
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Going to need 2 innings from Diaz.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 (edited) Brightside: Lindor, with speed and baserunning smarts, is the free runner if we can keep this going.OE: Nevermind. Edited August 25, 2024 by Guest
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Helpful, but they need 2 in the 10th, so the speed of the lead runner is less relevant.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 Horrible loss, just horrible
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Unfortunately, hitting with men in scoring position is not exactly a strength of the Mets. Not tht it really matters as Merrill just takes one deep to right for a Pdres walk-off.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Season over. Mark the date... August 25th.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Big difference between a 3-1 series win and a 2-2 series split. Also went from a potential 5-2 vs BAL & SDP to 4-3

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Braves lost today, so while we had a chance to gain ground and lost it, we didn't lose any ground.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 I think we can lose the purple stuff.Later

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Watching this one now. Can't believe it's been a week (ish) already since Quintana last started. Anyway, I know how it ends, so I'll put this here. Quintana, despite his August struggles, his pitched like a solid number three or number four pitcher for the majority of the year. Through the end of April, his ERA was 3.48. He was roughed up in May to the tune of a 7.20 ERA, but from...May 16 to today, he's 5-5 with a 3.91 ERA and .227 OBA in 18 starts.June 15 to today, he's 5-4 with a 3.53 ERA and .213 OBA in 13 starts.July 4 to today, he's 3-4 with a 4.06 ERA and .216 OBA in 10 starts. His August has been rough, but he's been solid as a whole.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 If the Mets get to the World Series, are you going to watch each game two or three days later?
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 I watch my Mets games in batches, I have too much other stuff to do to set aside three hours a night to watch a Mets game. But if they make the World Series, I would likely watch each one as it happens, hopefully.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 27, 2024 Posted August 27, 2024 Well, I finished it.What a bummer. The Mets can't afford to lose like this. The magic number for the Mets to get that last wild card spot, as it stands, is 35 or so. They have 31 games left, which means they have to be almost flawless, or the Braves have to be really, really bad, over the final month for the Mets to secure it.
