Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Got an interesting survey from the Mets regarding game times for Monday-Thursday and separately for Friday game times in 2025. Was asked to rank preferences among 6:00, 6:30, 6:40, 7:00, and 7:40.It will be interesting to see what data they get. The all-afternoon Saturday schedule this year was reportedly in response overwhelming fan feedback that earlier game times on Saturday were preferred. (I'm not so sure there would be interest in starting the weeknight games earlier).
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 6:40 - would help getting back to GCT earlier7:006:306:007:40
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 I'd be okay with 6:40 on weekdays.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Author Posted July 26, 2024 As a local and a frequent attendee, moving up weeknight games is something I strongly disfavor. But maybe the fans in the suburbs feel otherwise?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 I'm preferring 6:40 as a TV viewer who hasn't been to a weekday night game in almost five years. (And that was an anomaly.) My infrequent visits to Citi Field are almost always on weekends. (I live almost three hours away.)
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 6:30-6:40 is good for kids (provided they finished their homework). Games would be over by 9-9:30. 6 PM is too early- interferes with dinner in many instances.I don't go to that many games in person, so if there was an earlier start time I'd make accommodations. There have been 6:40 start times with some road games (DC, I think) and I liked it.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 640 is was too early. I barely have time to get the games from work as it is. 640 also interferes with dinnertimethe correct time should be 7 pm sharp, not 710
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 7 pm could be all things to all fans
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 oh i got the same survey.I answered 710, 740, 640

Plenty of time to get there, games over by 9-9:30. Even if you work until 5, that's 90 minutes. Plus so what if you miss the first inning? Better than feeling like you have to miss the 9th to make a train/school the next day. Even people in outer suburbs are home by 10:30, with kids or without, 11+ starts to get crazy. This isn't a club. More frequent mass transit options at 9:30 than 10:30 too.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 I can see the Mets giving in here to the Range Rover crowd who get the good schools and swimming pools but demand activity in the city adjust to their tough schedules.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 With the shorter game times since last year, there should be less pressure to further move start times earlier.7PM would be my first choice. Hell, I remember 8:00 starts.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 26, 2024 Posted July 26, 2024 Eight PM Friday night starts were great.Of course, being young on a Friday night in the summer, there was still plenty of time to go out after the game.
