ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 There seems to be some inertia in John Flaherty going to the skanks
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Buster Olney and Jeff Passen said the Mets were a possibility for Blake Snell. The part that scares other teams is that he has a $30 million option for next season, and the two thought the Mets were one of just a few teams that could absorb that, plus build a rotation for next year.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Has Tommy Pham been dealt at every trade deadline in the last decade or does it just seem that way?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 Half of that $30M is deferred to 2027 if Snell exercises the option. Doesn't seem like a big impediment.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Atlanta acquires Jorge SolerI'm getting the feeling the Mets are finished, ughhHow about Blake Snell Stearns?
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Luisangel Acuna had 399 at bats hitting .261 with an ops of .666. He does have 30 stolen bases though

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 He probably didn't wanna be here in 2022, either. 2021, too.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Deadline trades are rarely enough to satisfy the fans of buyers, and when they are satisfying in the short term, it's often because the acquisition has a big name, but remorse kicks in soon enough. As deGrom hasn't yet appeared in 2024, and as his last injury update is "close to facing live hitters" (he's really dominated dead hitters, and looked pretty good against undead hitters too), I'm guessing he's not going to happen, and probably can't even be traded under the current rules.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 I'm just asking for an SP at this point The bullpen help is welcomeI'm having a hard time believing Jesse Winker was the best they could do in acquiring a left handed batI understand Gilbert Acuna and Clifford are having lost seasons and would not be moved anyway but..Kevin Parada and Alex Ramirez should have some value with their performances at Binghamton Beyond that Javy Baez was a big name and how do that work out? There are still a few hours to godeGrom is so not happening. Get a grip
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 I suspect that Chris Bassitt is more likely to return than Scherzer or deGrom.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Flaherty is a free agent at the end of the year, without a giant salary this year. I imagine every buying team in the league would like him.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 SNY says Mets are trading left-handed reliever Josh Walker to the Pittsburgh Pirates, per multiple reports. Not sure who we are getting back. Walker was designated for assignment last week in order for the Mets to create room on the 40-man roster following the acquisition of Ryne Stanek, so it's likely not much, if anything beyond some Cranebucks..
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 30, 2024 Posted July 30, 2024 Approaching the four hour mark, it feels like everyone is gettingsomething good and the Mets are getting bumbling bupkis.

It doesn't answer any of the questions I raised in my previous post in this thread. And I don't believe a single word of anything deGrom says in that article. None of it makes any sense. It's disingenuous. I figure that deGrom's smart enough to know what he should say publicly to appear as diplomatic as possible. And if he didn't know what to say, then he was coached by his handlers and advisors.I'm not knocking deGrom personally. He was a good guy here and never made any trouble as far as I can see. And he had the right to choose to play for Texas if that was his preference.
