Fun fact: there are four players named Gray currently active in MLB: Jon, Sonny, Josiah, and Tristan.

And there's a Grayson Rodriguez. Only Tristan is not a pitcher.

Jon Gray is not so sunny right about now.

Yeah, arguing that a guy shouldn't be playing because he doesn't play enough is not gonna get you hired by any team I own.

With [CROSSOUT]7[/CROSSOUT] 9 runs on [CROSSOUT]10[/CROSSOUT] 11 hits to his first [CROSSOUT]19[/CROSSOUT] 20 batters,

I'm surprised he isn't gone already.

And now he is.

btw, two first pitch swings that inning = two runs on two pitches.

Lindor, Nimmo, and Alonso in a race to see who can break through that .240 batting average ceiling.

Alonso wins.

So it was right about one month ago when, if told the.Mets had amassed 12 hits you might ponder, 'hmmm, I wonder

how many they'll manage to get next week'?

Here they have 12 and the 4th inning isn't yet complete [now it is].

Not that we're going to see anyone from their good bullpen. But raking the

opponent's pen in Game One of a series is always a nice way to start things out.

Even the batboy looks goopy with sweat in these uniforms.

Of course, the batboy has had a lot of work to do tonight.

Hey, Keith, stop talking about Herb Alpert in the past tense. He's still among us.

Also, next time in Houston, pay a call on Archie Bell. He's had a few health scares of late.

It's good to see Lindor come out, but I kinda wanted him to chase history, and not come out of the game until he made an out.

Also I don't think Iglesias should be playing because he hasn't played enough.

Third hit for Álvarez.

The Mets need to call up a few players just to get them into this game while the getting is good.

Position player to the mound.

Bochy looks like he knows he should have gone out a champ and packed it in this offseason.

The Mets could be in the money and sitting on a wild card spot by Wednesday. They're already in the thick of it. They could be in the money tomorrow except that the Nats play the DBacks tomorrow.

Mets pass the Cubs and Reds (both losers tonight, both speculated not so long ago as landing spots for Pete Alonso) and pull within a game of the third Wild Card spot.

That spot now belongs to the almost-as-hot-as-the-Mets Nationals, who displace the Padres, who followed up their sweep by the Mets by getting strafed in Game One against the Phillies.
