Mets pass the Cubs and Reds (both losers tonight, both speculated not so long ago as landing spots for Pete Alonso) and pull within a game of the third Wild Card spot.



That spot now belongs to the almost-as-hot-as-the-Mets Nationals, who displace the Padres, who followed up their sweep by the Mets by getting strafed in Game One against the Phillies.

Check out how pathetic the NL is this year. The Mets have the 5th best run differential among all NL non first-place teams. I know how pathetic that makes the NL look because I have seen the 2024 Mets.
