Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Scott is a little bit of a surprise. (And so is Baty, for that matter.)Is Butto coming back?

Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 He is expected to return to the big leagues soon, as the stint in the minor leagues aligns with an upcoming stretch in which the Mets have extra days off due to their games in London and also helps keep Scott's season-long innings total in check.Sounds like he'd be back soon. But no London trip for him.

Scott could have pitched Tuesday in WSH but I guess they have other ideas. Perhaps he will pitch the first game back (June 11).They lose the big stipend for the trip. I've read that the LAD and SD players got about $70,000 (maybe more) for the South Korea trip.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 Jose Iglesias has been called up
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Dedniel Nunez also back, I'm excited about that
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I suspect Baty will be shipped at some point
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 I'm glad Iglesias is being added.Reliever Dedniel Nunez is also being recalled.Later

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Both moves make sense for different reasons. The Mets had no backup middle infielder for awhile. I was fine with that strategy, but Baty did nothing to show he belonged here at all, do now it is time to give Vientos his shot instead. Scott didn't deserve to go down, but the team needs another reliever right now and he fell victim to the "has options" game. He will be back soon!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Mets also slated to face four LHPs in the next six games (starting tonight) so that's a reason for Baty getting a AAA Vacay too.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
