Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Looks like Josh Walker is going to live up to his name.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Guess not. Very solid inning. Could Walker be yet another diamond-in-the-rough a la Garrett and Reid-Foley? He's been solid so far.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Author Posted May 20, 2024 Baty getting a "piece of the ball" there wasn't enough.I realize the only way he'll get a gold glove is with a can of spray paint*, but I think it is time to give Vientos a multi-game look at third. Let's get him into a rhythm and see what he can do against major league pitching.LaterThe first player who I saw using that line was Reggie Jackson
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Stewart's OPS was over .800, which indicated his value. Despite his low BA, he managed a solid OBP and slugging mark. Well, he OPS is quickly diminishing, and so is Stewart's value. I think he'll be gone relatively soon.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 I feel like it's been a long time since we got a ball out of the infield.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Alonso is on pace for a very human 35 home runs this year.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Cade Smith!! ... Really?!?His parents had a cruel sense of humor. On the other hand, the Guardians don't have to pay someone extra to sing GBA during the 7th inning stretch.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 It's like they're afraid of going full bore. They just look so lethargic.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Lindor's looking a little too cocky for a guy hitting .197.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 If you have to examine it this long and this minutely then it's not a call that needs to be overturned!!!!oe: but they do on the 51/49 principle which is not what the rule was designed to 'correct'.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 In comes Cleveland close Emmanuel Clase If he fails you know who comes in? Class B!I haven't used that joke since Jesus Colome was in the league
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Guardians had four 4 hits on the game, three of them came consecutively and, just for good measure, we tossed an error in (could have been two) amongst those hits.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2024 Posted May 20, 2024 Fire everyone. What a shit season.

Which I guess is technically above average, but not great. If you look at WHIP, they drop down to 22nd. Which might suggest that we've been a little lucky that the opposition hasn't scored more than they have.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 21, 2024 Posted May 21, 2024 Indeed, but I totally stand by not firing every pitcher.I still target offensive philosophy as the culprit of the failings of our times.

And I could be talked into keeping a hitter or two as well. I think overall I am on board with Stearns' big picture plan. But I find this year's team to be one of the most frustrating teams to watch. And we've had some bad teams in recent history. It's more than just being bad. It's that:1. Our pitchers walk everyone. League leading 207. 16 more walks than second place. It's a stupid number of walks.2. Which leads to a staff ranked 23rd in WHIP. Basically, tons of baserunners for the opposition.3. On the other hand, our guys don't walk. (147th. Tied for 19th)4. Don't really get on base (18th in MLB)5. And aren't really good at hitting in general (23rd in OPS)6. Also, we don't field so good (21st in Fielding %)Overall, a very bad team.
