Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Gary's going a little too heavy on the 'decline' of Reed Garrett. The guy's still got a 0.78 ERA, Gary. Chill out a bit.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Garrett had all three of his pitches working nicely there.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 More injury updates:Shintaro Fujinami—"The Mets recalled Fujinami from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday and placed him on the 15-day injured list due to a right shoulder strain. Fujinami hadn't pitched for Syracuse since May 3 due to the injury. He had yet to make his 2024 debut for the Mets, but he was likely recalled and placed on the 15-day IL in the event New York needs to move him to the 60-day IL down the road to open up a 40-man roster spot." Expected to be out until at least Jun 1.Kodai Senga—"Positive strides in bullpen session: Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns said Thursday in an interview with SportsNet New York that Senga (shoulder) recently had "a good bullpen" session where he was "making some strides." Senga had to pull back on facing hitters while he dealt with mechanical issues, but he and the Mets were happy with how his last throwing session went. Stearns said he wasn't sure exactly when Senga would be ready to begin a rehab assignment, but it could happen relatively soon. The right-hander has been sidelined all season with a right posterior shoulder capsule strain." Expected to be out until at least Jun 11.Brooks Raley—"Diagnosed with UCL strain: Manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Raley was diagnosed with a UCL strain in his left elbow after undergoing further imaging, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports. Mendoza noted that Raley's UCL is healing, but the Mets will shut him down for two weeks before re-evaluating him, at which point the team will determine next steps. The left-hander has been on the injured list since April 21 and was initially expected to be activated after the 15-day minimum, but he hasn't made any significant progress toward a return to throwing." Expected to be out until at least Jun 21.(Rotowire/CBS)
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 Last batch of updates:Tylor Megill—"Returning to rotation Monday: Megill (shoulder) is scheduled to return from the 15-day injured list to start Monday's series opener versus the Guardians in Cleveland, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. After exiting in his season debut March 31 with a right shoulder strain and landing on the IL, Megill is finally ready to make his second start with the Mets nearly seven weeks later. According to Puma, Megill said the injury was caused by the lower arm slot he used on his curveball, but the right-hander reported no issues with throwing his breaking pitches during his four-start minor-league rehab assignment. Megill most recently tossed 5.1 shutout innings and 74 pitches in his final rehab start for Triple-A Syracuse on May 12, so he's not expected to be under any major workload restrictions as he steps back into the big-league rotation." Expected to be out until at least May 20.Drew Smith—"Return pushed back again: Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said that Smith won't be activated from the 15-day injured list Wednesday after recently experiencing a "pinch" in his right shoulder, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. He will have his return pushed back a second time because the Mets need length from their bullpen and Smith isn't ready to provide that yet. Smith is still able to continue throwing in spite of the setback, so he may not be ruled out for a return from the IL for Thursday's series finale in Philadelphia or at some point this weekend." Expected to be out until at least May 19. (Rotowire/CBS)

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2024 Posted May 19, 2024 In all seriousness, I understand now why the Mets didn't ditch Garrett in the offseason.
