bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 I went to a game this spring in West Palm Beach and a guy standing next to me yelled "Shorty". Zack Short looked up and they chatted. After Short returned to the field the guy's father said they were teammates at Sacred Heart.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 His tenure with the Mets was ... well, you know.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Not a bad person. Horrible hitter. I'm glad he found a home - far away from us.Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 Probably a better hitter than Joey Wendle, although it didn't show up in whatever data we have so far this year.Probably a worse fielder than Joey Wendle, although it didn't show up in whatever data we have so far this year.It would have been nice for his ride to have lasted longer, but with José Iglesias, Mark Vientos, Ronny Mauricio, Luisangel Acuna, Jett Williams, et al. pushing him from behind, he was between a rock and a hard place trying to hold spot. It was either get off to a fast start or get out of the way.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 I never really thought he was anything but a stopgap.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 A Mets fan who got the news he'd made his childhood team shortly after losing his grandma.Never more popular than when Joey Wendle threw to second base.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2024 Posted May 1, 2024 You kind of just knew he wasn't going to last. Very little about his previous MLB experience suggested he'd be around long.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Good ol' Zack of the Red Sox is now traitorous Zack of the Braves.https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/05/braves-acquire-zack-short-from-red-sox.htmlhttps://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/05/braves-acquire-zack-short-from-red-sox.html
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 Speaking of traitorous Braves, that team seems to be stacking their broadcast crew with former short-term Mets.I don't think there's any intent on their part since all have longer-term Atlanta connections, but their rotating lineup now includes the recently retired Collin McHugh who joins the likes of Jeff Francouer, Tom Glavine, and, on the radio side, Kelly Johnson. How did they let Greg McMichael slide by without at least an audition?
