metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2024 Author Posted August 12, 2024 Yeah I only heard this call so I shouldn't judge ,I kinda admire his redemption story and fair play to him for turning his life around
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2024 Author Posted September 5, 2024 Things are going well over there
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 (Channeling Fman) There isn't a red hot sandpaper dildo big enough to f**K him with.Later
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Michal Kay and John Flaherty get into an uncomfortable spat on the air.Flaherty comes out with a passive aggressive knife attack, and Kay escalates.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 Key seems to be sensitive, bordering on touchy, about a lot of things.Later
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2024 Author Posted September 7, 2024 Damn, that's gold, agree ,Kay seems very thin skinned and everything is a precieved slight with him
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 "Listen, John, I don't pick out my schedule, I go where I'm told" -- Boool-Shit!Kay picks which road trips he'll skip just like Gary does (only Kay skips more of them). There might be some minor negotiation in deciding but no way is YES telling Kay, 'You're going on the Anaheim trip this year and that's final!!!!!' I think Flaherty is their best color guy but he doesn't have the stature of O'Neill or Cone or (I lose track of how many dozen color guys they use these days) so it's logical that the less desirable trips are the ones that both Kay and one of seconds with more pull skip together. It reminds me of when Francesa would claim that his show's producers were the ones who cut off callers, never him ... except that when the show was simulcast you could see him waving to the producers to cut the guy off. This whole 'I'm no prima-donna / I just work here' stuff from both of those guys is comical.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2024 Author Posted October 5, 2024 No Stroman , some are saying they don't need him in a five game series
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted October 6, 2024 Posted October 6, 2024 Like he needs something to be pissed off about
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 MFYankees season of doom 2024 is complete 👌
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 Stroman never pitched an inning of post-season for the Yanx this year, even in those series when he was on the active roster.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 A-a-ron Boone will manage the Yanx in 2025 ... at least to start the season. After that it's all up for grabs.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I guess Bob and Aaron are the most successful father and son managerial duo. The only alternatives that spring to mind are Buddy and David Bell and Felipe Alou and Luis Rojas.I think the Sandys Alomar, Sr. and Jr., may have each had interim stints.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 I recall reading once that Connie Mack's son stepped in to run the team several times when his dad was in his 70s. Not quite official though.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Yeah, once you add Earl Mack to the equation, it's no contest who the first family of MLB managers is.Measuring managers by wins, and using Bill James' technique of measuring family impact, by doubling the contribution of the second-most prolific guy (and tripling and quadrupling, etc., any subsequent guys), nobody is even breathing the same air as Mack Daddy and Son.In fact, 33 individual managers — as families of one — put more points on the board than the Boones. The Bells have the highest total reached by two figures in one family, for what that's worth.[th]First Guy[/th][th]Wins[/th][th]Second Guy[/th][th]Wins[/th][th]Total Points[/th]Connie Mack3,731Earl Mack453,821Aaron Boone603Bob Boone3711,345Buddy Bell519David Bell4091,337Felipe Alou1,033Luis Rojas1031,239
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted November 14, 2024 Posted November 14, 2024 Dave Sims takes over for John Sterling in the MFY radio booth.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I hope he's got someone willing to hit foul balls off his face at home
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Sims is a good p-b-p guy. He's been out in Seattle for years doing M's games but I don't think he ever permanently relocated so not surprising that he leapt at the chance to get back east.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 15, 2024 Author Posted November 15, 2024 Sims is 71 , not that it means much

Good! That's what shoulda happened and anything less woulda been an outrage.
Bob Alpacadaca Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 These two are punks and I have no problem banning them. But how is that enforced? What's to stop them from showing up at Wrigley or something for a random Cubs game?

That should be enough of a deterrent. What else are you gonna do? You can't chop their heads off. And they don't have to be caught in the moment. Somebody could rat them out after the fact, too.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 10, 2025 Posted January 10, 2025 Lock them in a warm, humid room for a week and play a continuous loop of ESPN announcers doing a baseball game. That would be sufficient punishment.Later
