Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 New York (for immediate release) — Venerable publishing houses L.M. Kolt and Foster Ingram are proud to announce the merger of their imprints and operations under the single umbrella of the Kolt Ingram Publishing Group, LLC. Kolt Ingram is excited with the opportunity for streamlining operations that the merger represents, providing their markets with the reputation for fine literature that the two publishers have always stood for, while laying off 90% of the staff of both houses.Evil is good. Submission is freedom. Ignorance is the true literacy. Long live Kolt Ingram.

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I have a feeling that we're going to see a real churn of players this year.Other than 1962, in which 45 players made their Mets debut, the most new Mets in a single season is 42, a record set in 2021.I have a hunch that that record is going to be challenged this year.1962 452021 421967 352023 342022 312002 292004 292006 282013 282008 271998 262009 261995 251992 241997 242005 242018 242019 242012 232015 231963 222000 222007 222011 222003 212010 211965 201990 201993 201999 202020 201964 191994 191996 192016 191966 171975 172001 172017 171978 162014 161981 151984 151977 141979 141989 141972 131973 131980 131982 131987 131991 131983 121985 121970 101986 101969 91974 91976 91968 81971 81988 4

That's the trend. The last three seasons are all in the top five of your list.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 Yeah, my suspicion is that recent seasons would dominate such a list with most teams.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I think so too. That's the way the game has been going. I look down the list of recent Mets and there are so many whose names are completely unfamiliar to me, although of course I know who they were (or at least that they existed) at the time they were playing. Some of this is a reflection on how many brain cells I devote to short-term Mets, but it's also because there are so many of them. I remember Dennis D'Agostino's book listing the players who only appeared in one Mets game, and there were only six examples. The book covered what is, by now, about the first third of Mets history. In the years since, there have been 28 additional one-game Mets. Who the hell is Nick Tropeano? The name doesn't seem even remotely familiar to me.1969-09-19 Jesse Hudson1971-09-14 Frank Estrada1971-09-15 Don Rose1975-04-11 Mac Scarce1977-04-13 Luis Alvarado1977-09-29 Doc Medich1987-07-25 Bob Gibson1989-09-16 Manny Hernandez1990-06-03 Dave Liddell1993-09-29 Kenny Greer1997-06-15 Kevin Morgan1999-08-09 Dan Murray2000-06-04 Ryan McGuire2001-04-26 Brett Hinchliffe2001-07-24 Gary Bennett2004-10-03 Joe Hietpas2007-04-30 Chan Ho Park2007-07-27 Jon Adkins2012-05-28 Jack Egbert2012-08-08 Garrett Olson2015-06-17 Akeel Morris2017-05-07 Adam Wilk2018-05-31 Scott Copeland2019-08-04 Donnie Hart2020-09-01 Ariel Jurado2021-04-24 Stephen Tarpley2021-07-09 Nick Tropeano2021-07-29 Akeem Bostick2022-08-16 R.J. Edgy MD Site Manager Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 I know Nick Tropeano not just because he was a seven-year MLB vet (albeit much of that in the other league) when he came to New York, but also because he was a Long Islander and a Stony Brook alum, so Seawolf totally plotzed over him.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 26, 2024 Posted February 26, 2024 But he didn't stick around long enough for us to make endless jokes about how poorly educated he was.Who was that pitcher with the Marlins? Tom somebody?
