If Beltre isn't the best of the best then surely Manny isn't either ? Of course Bill has covered the Red Sox for years though

As possibly the only guy to not vote for beltre, his argument against him is, “meh”.



Like, no further explanation.

He's all mister small-hall. Sure. Then don't vote for Ortiz. And don't bitch that PEDs are keeping out the best of the sawx players either.



Ugh. Beltre is a much better player than Ortiz, manny, Jeter. More complete. More counting.



6th best 3b ever vs 14th, using bWAR's jaws.



Jetes needs a hell of an aura and mystique boost to climb over that, but Beltre isn't worthy? Please.



Comparing manny to Beltre would be equally unfair. Unless all you look at is home runs.

I don't get the Andruw Jones or Bobby Abreu love from all the voters who let Kenny Lofton and Jim Edmonds sink off the ballot so fast.

Andruw Jones had annual post-season exposure which included constant plotzing over his defensive abilities. He had ten Gold Gloves and Lofton had three. And voters freqnetly tend to (consciously or unconsciously) consider those in a binary manner, as if there's the Gold Glove winner and everybody else.



But yeah, I'd take Kenny Lofton if given a choice between the two. He had a career like Tim Raines, only not quite as Tim Rainesy.
