Is there a database that records, by any chance, the number of All-Star appearances by players whom the Mets have traded, released, sold, etc.?

I was just looking at a photo of Felix Mantilla today and I wondered how often it happened that the Mets got rid of someone who later made an All-Star team. I think Mantilla must have been the first. Or very close.

And of course I'd like to compare apples to apples here, so I'd need a matching list of players the Mets acquired who eventually became All-Stars.

I'd also like a pony.

ETA:We should probably establish some parameters, like "no one who became an All-Star after leaving the Mets is eligible if he hadn't played at least one game in a Mets uniform before leaving." This means that Paul Blair for example wouldn't count, since he was only a Mets farmhand when the Orioles picked him up.

I took the question to mean guys who played for the Mets and were never All Stars for them, but who left and then became one...so Kingman and Seaver wouldn't count?

I had the parameters in mind before that.

But, 'ya got me.

But that's ok, because there was an outfielder who passed through their hands without playing with them who went on to be a big slugger. I had forgotten his name. So you saved me time and embarrassment.

A.J is out, but Everett is still in.

But I still owe you a fervent response to your Bill Mazeroski Hall of Fame post. Just haven't had time to formulate it. Maybe ...

Amos Otis and Ken Singleton.

Jim Hickman.

And here's a weird one I'd forgotten about--Buzz Capra, whom the Mets sold to the Braves, and who made the All-Star team and led the NL in ERA the next season.

Amos Otis and Ken Singleton both have connections to me that you will never ever guess but you are welcome to try if you want.

Seeing Paul Blair's name reminded me of Paul Byrd.

Also Jeromy Burnitz comes to mind.

Rick Aguilera's another.

Marco Scutaro is another one I stumbled upon. He's often lost in the shuffle of Mets could-have-beens, but imagine if he'd blossomed with New York instead of elsewhere. He was a pretty impressive ballplayer.

Randy Myers.

And in a reversal of initials, Mike Remlinger.

I thought sure, Kevin Elster made an All-Star team after leaving the Mets, but no. He did have one gigantic year where he hit 24 HRs and drove in 99 runs for Texas (and fielded like Kevin Elster) but, no, that was worth just a Comeback Player of the Year award.

Looking up his record, he had a weird career, batting about 100 times in four seasons in his late twenties, which should have been his peak years, with a messed up shoulder, and ending his career with 14 HRs in 80 games for the Dodgers. He has to hold the record for being released by most MLB teams without playing a game for them.
