Unfortunately, The Pads are up 6-2 on The Giants, tonight, so it doesn't look likely that the Mets will finish in that tie.



But hey, a loss by San Francisco would put the Mets within eight games of that last Wild Card.

With Atlanta back to doing what they do (five wins in a row, and nine of their last ten), the Mets find themselves 27.5 games out with their division elimination number down to one.



But because of a silly expanded playoff roster and something akin to entropy in the middle of the standings, they find themselves persistently hanging around the fringes of the Wild Card picture, eight games out and (again) tied with Pittsburgh, with the Padres a half game ahead.
