Of course, if the laws in the DR are like those in the USA, then none of that will matter legally if she was a minor when this supposedly happened. I was a juror on a murder case (two defendants) in the Bronx many years ago. One of the witnesses was a 14 year old who had lived with, and had a child by, the defendant and had lived with, and had a child by, another witness.

The judge told not us to judge the circumstances of the witness, just consider the testimony she gave.

A crime is a crime.



I don't remember the names of the defendants or the lawyers. But I still remember he girl's name.

Not paying athletes won't make them better citizens. Keep creating and expanding orientation and transition programs for young people who are becoming suddenly very rich young people. The NBA does it, I don't know if MLB does, but build and grow those programs. Give young players a veteran player "big brother" or sponsor or something. Education and guidance. And hospitals.

The pimping side of the equation seems more consistent with the mother. Money laundering is frequently what somebody gets tagged for when they pay off an extortioner. Or perhaps when they freely pay for something illegal or embarrassing, and so disguise it. The hush-money probe into the former president is largely a money-laundering investigation.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that Wander Franco was arrested today in the Dominican Republic “after an altercation during which guns were drawn.”

Franco was arrested Monday in San Juan de la Maguana, 100 miles west of Santo Domingo “after what two police sources said was an altercation Sunday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in which guns were drawn.” He and an unnamed woman are being held for questioning. Franco is out on bail as he awaits trial for charges related to sexually abusing a 14-year-old. He is also under an MLB investigation under its domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy until the case is resolved.



Talk about pissing away a lot of money foolishly.
