Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Yeah, remember it was Jim who got down and dirty with the animals most often. Or, as the Johnny Carson (somewhat exaggerated) imitation had it: Marlon: "So while Jim wrestles with the alligator down in the swamp, I'll be back here in the tent sipping Margaritas with Inga"
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 If you start a swinging motion, but your bat isn't really in the hitting zone, and you get hit in the hands, there's no way you're going to be able to halt the bat's forward motion. But that shouldn't really make it a swing, I think.I think they got the right call there.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Two outs/no one on and it results in two more runs (and counting) while we fuck up yet another bases-loaded/no out situation. The bad call didn't help, but neither did two hits, a BB, and an HBP.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 So Gary & Keith are talking about 'getting momentum' with Scherzer, but right now it's looking like needing a good outing by Max just to gain a series split with a .500 team.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Mets get screwed when they have no room left for getting screwed
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Third time tonight that Pete's been jammed. This last one was merely the most blatant.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Playing like he needs 3 weeks in Syracuse
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 Who do you pinch hit for Canha, if anybody? Vogie, Guillorme, or Narváez?It's likely Vogie, but I have a Guillorme temptation.

batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 No way Ohtani comes here to play next season.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 28, 2023 Posted June 28, 2023 The schedule now has the Mets facing all 29 of the other teams, so unless he's injured, one has to think Ohtani comes to Citifield to play eventually.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2023 Posted June 29, 2023 I'm now turning off fairly close games where they're losing because they seem fully incapable of coming back from a deficit. As soon as the Brew crew went up 5-2 I went to bed.
