Sorry to be gloomy, feels like they should be down 9-2 but it's

only 4-2 with three innings to play...

I approve, Marte.

Like Gary said, you have to make it if you're going there.

But with the combo of Stroman and Vogelbach producing a 98.6% odds of a GIDP, it was a worthwhile gamble.

that was ball 5 to Canha, good AB from him not chasing after the ump called a shitty strike 1.

I just wanna note for the official record of this here forum, my vehement disapproval of this strict blanket command not to ever swing at the first pitch when down in the late innings. I'm sick to here of reading it like every other game.. Sometimes the first pitch is a very hittable pitch. Maybe even a meatball. And the fucking batter who had seen about a zillion pitches in his life knows more than I do and you do. What if the batter thinks he can crush it and won't get a better pitch to hit? Me, I'll gripe when he swings at a bad pitch.

It has nothing to do with whether or not it's a good pitch.

There are a lot of things I know and you know that other people — even professionals in their field — don't know.

Anyway, it's a crime that tomorrow is not an afternoon game.

I know. It's just my style. But it is about the pitch. If the batter thinks it's a great pitch to hit he should swing, I think. This is a case by case, pitch by pitch, batter by batter situation, not some fixed and rigid rule. Otherwise, the manager would flash the "take" sign. He doesn't because he knows that the batter, often, should be given discretion.

Pitches thru 5 innings

He got 2 strikes on a number of guys and than let them off the hook or burned up tons of pitches trying to get them to chase. It's hard to watch sometimes.

He did seem kind of clueless pointing at himself after his defense turned two to bail him out.

He induced a grounder, and that's good on him, but it took three fast-working guys to finish the job for him.

On the other hand, criticizing opponent behavior anonymously makes me think "Show some class; be a professional."

He's a jackass. I rooted hard for him and enjoyed watching him in his two years here but he can fuck right off these days.
