Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 16, 2023 Posted April 16, 2023 The New York Mets Western Retribution Tour takes us Los Angeles, where we seek to serve up a tall cool glass of revenge lager that's been 35 years in the brewing. David Peterson goes against Dustin May. Brett Baty hasn't been officially announced to be joining the team, but nobody's denied it either. The Dodgers have no promotion scheduled. But if you're in town, nonfiction writer Alissa Quart and comic actress Annabelle Gurwitch will be appearing at Chevalier's Book before the game where they will discuss our obsession with self-reliance, but you probably think you don't need that sort of thing. Book event starts at 6:00 PM Pacific Time, with the game at 7:10, so the turnaround might be tricky. If anybody want to KTE this showdown, I'm sure we'd all appreciate it, but once you get started, let us know, so two posters are duplicating each other's work.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Hopefully I'll see an inning or two , not much for staying up past 10pm these days
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Not up for a full KTE, but the Dodgers have a bunch of new, and mostly unknown, faces replacing some departed and more famous ones.Gone are Justin Turner, Trea Turner (don't think Nat, Ike, or Tina are on the present roster either), Kike Hernandez and Clay BellingerC - Will Smith but he was just put on the concussion IL so won't appear1B - FFF2B & SS feature a couple of Miguels, Vargas & Rojas, neither one of whom is hitting3B - Max Muncy is hitting, at least for power. 6 of his 11 hits (.204 BA) are HRsOF - David Peralta, James Outman, Mookie BettsDH - JD MartinezTeam is just 8-8 despite a favorable RS/RA ratio and is coming off losing two of three at home vs Cubs where they scored 2, 2, and 2 runs, winning only the final game on a walk-off on a 2-out/bottom 9 David Peralta singleTheir RS/G is 6th best in MLB to date despite some feeble BAs in the lineupTheir RA/G sits 9th best which is a little more expected

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 anyone awake for this one? VOGELBOOM!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Mary Hart and Burt Sugarman in their usual seats.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Three hits by righthanded bats so far, when May had only allowed four such hits so far this season. And the Mets tie things up with an HbP and two hard singles. Still none out. They might be able to run this guy.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Vogelback gets another run home, this one hit not quite as hard
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Chasing this guy would be gold.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Baty!May's delivery is goofy looking.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 His hair is so fine, and his face so red, I really can't detect any visible eyebrows.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 If May was able to come up with that ball, Nimmo might well have been called for being out of the baseline.Stay in your lane, kids.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Did Nimmo look like he came up just a tad lame after that play at second?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Nimmo certainly ought to have slud.Interesting that those were two challenge-able calls the Mets opted out of that inning.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Freddy freaking Freeman.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Well, that's what I get for stepping away.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 Well, that brings the bullpen into the game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Two two-out two-RBI hits are ruining Peterson's night.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 I like seeing Peterson back out for the 6th here - he has given up 5 runs - but big picture he hasn't walked anyone and has allowed two bombs to an MVP, so he isn't pitching too badly - let him pitch!
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
