Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 30, 2023 Posted March 30, 2023 Two lefties battle it out as David Peterson goes up against Jesús Luzardo.Fun Fakt #1: The southpaw should probably mean the first start for Tomás Nido, as well as Tommy Pham and/or Tim Locastro. Buck liked to deploy Luis Guillorme against lefties last season despite the same-side-matchup thing, but I don't see him getting the nod. Look for him to come off the bench when the Marlins go to their pen.Fun Fakt #2: The Mets win on Opening Day came without a homerun. Marlins Park is a tough ballpark for power, but I don't think they even made a serious bid. Don't think for a minute that several Mets don't hit the pillow tonight wanting to cross that off tomorrow. Or maybe not. But I can delude myself that sounds cool to pretend I know what they're thinking. I actually think Alonso can get too hungry against lefty starters.Fun Fakt #3: This is an actual fact, and not opinion-laced garbage like the two items I have typed above, but Jesús Luzardo started twice against the Mets last season, going 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA (seven runs in 9 1/3 innings) against them.Fun Fakt #4: Skip Schumaker is the Cardinaliest name of any Cardinal that has ever Cardinaled. I'm willing to hear arguments for Jeff Suppan and Chris Duncan, but in the end, it's Skip Schumaker, and I tend to think of such folks as super-Cardinals, whose powers desert them outside of St. Louis. This also reads like an opinion (and a stupid one, to be sure), but it's a fakt that this is my opinion.Fun Fakt #5: This is Met PA Announcer Colin Cosell celebrating the team's Opening Day win with his infant daughter Eloise, whose sunny young life has yet to be dimmed by a Mets loss.[FIMG=400]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Fsgaq5XX0AMi4Kx?format=jpg&name=large[/FIMG]

DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Has to be a grandson-- there's a resemblance. As to Cardinalia, there's nobody more redbirdian than Dave Duncan, except maybe Jose Oquendo.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 Yeah, the Mets co-PA announcer the last few years is Cosell's grandson — Howard having been the Mets original pre-game host. And now Humble Howard's great-granddaughter joins the show.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 Along with Peterson, Tommy and Tomás make their first 2023 starts, as both teams boost the back half of their lineups with the some righthanded help against the southpaws.

[TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/new-york-mets-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/miami-marlins-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH]

[TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH][TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH]

=#FF5910]1=#002D72]Brandon Nimmo (L)=#FF5910]cf=#EF3340]1=#00A3E0]Luis Arraez (L)=#EF3340]2b

=#FF5910]2=#002D72]Starling Marte (R)=#FF5910]rf=#EF3340]2=#00A3E0]Jean Segura (R)=#EF3340]3b

=#FF5910]3=#002D72]Francisco Lindor (S)=#FF5910]ss=#EF3340]3=#00A3E0]Garrett Cooper (R)=#EF3340]dh

=#FF5910]4=#002D72]Pete Alonso (R)=#FF5910]1b=#EF3340]4=#00A3E0]Jazz Chisholm, Jr. (L)=#EF3340]cf

=#FF5910]5=#002D72]Mark Cahna (R)=#FF5910]dh=#EF3340]5=#00A3E0]Jorge Soler (R)=#EF3340]rf

=#FF5910]6=#002D72]Jeff McNiel (L)=#FF5910]2b=#EF3340]6=#00A3E0]Avisail Garcia (R)=#EF3340]lf

=#FF5910]7=#002D72]Eduardo Escobar (S)=#FF5910]3b=#EF3340]7=#00A3E0]Yuli Gurriel (R)=#EF3340]1b

=#FF5910]8=#002D72]Tommy Pham (R)=#FF5910]lf=#EF3340]8=#00A3E0]Nick Fortes (R)=#EF3340]c

=#FF5910]9=#002D72]Tomás Nido (R)=#FF5910]c=#EF3340]9=#00A3E0]Jon Berti (R)=#EF3340]ss

[TH][/TH][TH]Pitcher[/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH]Pitcher[/TH][TH][/TH]

=#FF5910]=#002D72]David Peterson (L)=#FF5910]sp=#EF3340]=#00A3E0]Jesús Luzardo (L)=#EF3340]sp

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 Blue has taken two from the Mets this evening.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Marte with the first hit. Softens Luzardo up
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Hard to believe the A's gave up on Luzardo while he was under team control
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 31, 2023 Author Posted March 31, 2023 Marlins certainly are playing tighter defense than last night. Both teams look real sharp.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 I can't believe that they pulled the sculpture out of there. Derek Jeter's a shit pudding.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 Three NYM baserunners so far this game, two of which were immediately erased (CS & GiDP)
