A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Baseball player gets injured playing baseball. At least he wasn't carted off? Yay, 2023.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Oh Fuck!Time to blame the new bases. He's holding the back of the leg. Hope its just a cramp and not a hammy..Later

kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 Right ankle soreness, per the booth.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 He dinged his ankle. I worry not.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 17, 2023 Posted March 17, 2023 I tentatively agree. But I bet we don't see any steal attempts from the guy for a while.

But I bet we don't see any steal attempts from the guy for a while.Although he did indicate during a dugout interview last week that he may look to be more aggressive with SB attempts this season (although I confess I forget how strongly he worded it as I was busy gazing at whats-her-name's boobies at the time).
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Yeah, I was expecting as much. Just now, he has whatever lingering effects there are from this ... bone bruise? ... to proffer in response to any inquiries anyone might make going forward. And if that's the way he's going to slide, it's probably just as well.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 For a guy who's a good athlete, he can look more than a bit ungraceful at times. Not Hunter Pence level ungraceful, but not exactly Barishnikov either.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Get Collin Cowgill on the line, stat!
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Low grade, week to week, able to resume baseball activities by 5/15...
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 This season sucks so far
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Seriously what is wrong with these guys? It used to be a point of pride to play hurt. They're so delicate it's pathetic.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 There's a difference between 'hurt' and 'injured', and it's important to distinguish between the two.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Certainly. But a guy can easily hurt himself jumping up and down but injure himself? (Another fellow we know)I'm just perplexed how they are so delicate. They are human, yes, and human bodies are easily injured but a trained athlete? Though I'll admit I don't know what happened with nimmo so I probably really shouldn't be commenting
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Again, though, I'm not sure that Diaz hurt himself jumping up and down. It was the jumping that made it clear that he was hurt, but he looked off before that to me.

whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 What I'm trying to say is a pro athlete shouldn't hurt his knee hopping if he's in proper shape
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I once threw my back out picking up something to put in the trash. Now granted I meet nobody's standard of "proper shape," but it wasn't so much the mundane act as it was the accumulation of stresses that needed one more tiny trigger. I think a lot of athletic injuries (probably more so to pitchers than any other type of pro athlete) fall in the category where it's not one impact or event, but a buildup of stresses that just goes pop in a seemingly innocuous place. I think Edgy is right that Diaz's body language implied that he knew something wasn't right. But I guess he thought there was no harm in joining the celebration.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 Brandon believes he'll be ready for Opening Day. At lest his disposition isn't week to week.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 19, 2023 Posted March 19, 2023 I'm getting the impression the brass don't see it the same way.
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 A for effort. I hope he's right
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 If anyone can do this it's Nimmo , amazing
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 22, 2023 Posted March 22, 2023 Of course, if anybody can over-do this, it's Nimmo, so I'm still exercising caution.
