Infielder Travis Blankenhorn played a bunch of games with the injury-plagued mid-season Mets of 2021. But in 2022, he had but a single appearance, starting a game as the designated hitter for some still unfathomed reason.



Infielder Travis Blankenhorn has inexplicably rejected the advice of wiser persons and signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals.

That http://www.faithandfearinflushing.com/2021/07/19/get-it-right-the-next-time-thats-the-main-thing/weirdo game in Pittsburgh that may have been Taijuan Walker's worst moment as a Met (when he brushes a ball not quite out of play and gripes with the ump as Buc after Buc scores) was Blankenhorn's best. Travis blasted a three-run homer that catapulted the Mets back into the fray setting up an unlikely Sunday afternoon triumph.



My autospell always refuses to believe I don't mean to discuss Mrs. Blankenship from Mad Men when I, in fact, am delving into Mr. Blankenhorn.

That's the shot shown above. His first and — thus far — only Major League homerun.

The lone Met home runs of both Ty Kelly and Travis Blankenhorn, hit five years apart, each occurred at PNC Park, and I can't say there's a particularly good reason for remembering that.

Watched him quite a bit at Syracuse in 2022. He did all right here. I conflated him with Travis Jankowski.

I thought he had more of a career before the Mets claimed him on waivers. A few years at least. But nope, only two pre-Mets appearances.



I guess I conflate him with ... Lance Blankenship?
