Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Phillies don't look bad in their home whites I dig the font on the names and numerals
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Houston busting it open here vs. Nola and now Alvarado. Phil's no-hit thru 4 and 5 in here in the 5th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Most of the runs won't be his, but always nice seeing Alvarado get knocked around.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Would Marsh even be allowed to pitch with that hair? With what looks like about a quart and a half of oil up in that salad, some of that would figure to get on his hands and the ball just by osmosis.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Fillies getting no-hit thru 8 (2 BBs)
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 5 - 0 Astros9 - 1 - 2 for the Phils trying Not to get no-no'edHouston closer Ryan (not Elvis) Pressly on to attempt to close out a four pitcher no-hit WS game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 Schwarber = BB3rd of the game is for Phiily
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 And it's the second ever WS no-no!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 2, 2022 Posted November 2, 2022 What a brutal nut punch to endure at home.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I enjoy the idea of those fans paying so much money to watch their team not get any hits in a WS game. Maybe some of those same folks were at the game earlier this year where we did the same thing to them.Amazingly, the same starter and closer also were part of a combined no hitter against the MFYs this summer.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Maybe the best part was how LOUD that place was at the start of the game, going nuts with each out and even with each strike in the top of the 1st and Nola mowed 'em down 1-2-3At the end ... not so much, and Nola didn't even survive the 4th.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Good for the Phillies to take a nut punch 👊. Now they're demoralized and cannot win at home. I know I said I was rooting for them because I have Philly friends but I also have Philly enemies so I'm good either way.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 And ex-Met Montero played a part in it.Later
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I had Phillie pholks posting photos during the game. "We're HERE and it's WILD and it's all HAPPENING!!"But not a whole lot OF "OW MY NUTS!" posts later.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 I'm still taking the strategy of rooting for whichever side is behind.
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Thor escaped more danger in the 1st.Schwarzenegger Homer's off Verlander. 1-1Jose Altuve has no business wearing No 27. He should wear 2 or maybe 5
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Philly playing the infield in to the second batter of the game following a leadoff triple is borderline kooky, no?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Johnny Lunchbucket wrote:Thor escaped more danger in the 1st.The danger caused by the backfired strategy (they got neither the out nor prevented the run). But following that RBI Single, the Astros haven't hit a fair ball since. Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Probably the last inning for Verlander (5th).He keeps getting quick outs early in innings but then needs a ton of high-stress pitches to get the 3rd out.Result = 95 pitches to get thru the 5th
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Stunning stat learned from tonight's game:J. T. Realmuto caught 230 more innings this year than any other catcher. That's more than 25 games' worth.133 games started behind the plate plus 3 at 1B and just 3 more at DH. Now, granted, that's not Randy Hundley territory (160 games started in the no-DH/no-night games era at Wrigley Field) but it's this generation's version of it.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Author Posted November 3, 2022 Impressive, but at least the Mets have McCann through 2024.And those numbers are with him missing two games in TOR because he wouldn't get vaccinated.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Of course he's also sucking big time right now, but to claim cause and effect is probably a stretch
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Not a good night for Rafael Montero: one run in and two more on base while retiring just one.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2022 Posted November 3, 2022 Harper up vs closer Pressly down 3 - 2 and with two outs in the 9th.And he's HBPCastellanos at the plate as the winning run.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 All game long I kept thinking, "What ever happened to going the other way"?So many missed opportunities by both teams (including some squeezes).Their lack of fundies gives me a knot in my undies.Later
batmagadanleadoff Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2022 Posted November 4, 2022 Last night, the Phils wore their Danny Ozark-era Schmidt/Luzinski/Carlton throwbacks. The powder blue road version of that uni. For a home game.Used to be, baseball teams weren't allowed to wear throwback unis in the WS.
