bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 (edited) The first of 4 in Philadelphia as Chris Bassitt faces Aaron Nola (RHP). Pete has 4 HRs against Nola but Pete doesn't seem to hit HRs anymore... prove me wrong, big guy! And shame on Pete for having Jim Breuer as part of his charity comedy night. Breuer no long yells into his phone for Mets fans but he is a strident anti-vaccer. Shame on Pete for giving that ass a platform. I'm sure that Gary and Ron will chuckle at the Phillies' new graphic ("Keith approved!" whenever there's a good defensive play). Boy, they sure are sensitive in a town that is supposed to be tough... second-rate New York wannabees. Jealous much? Edited August 19, 2022 by Guest
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 I'm calling this a big series. They're licking a few wounds from ATL, don't have their aces starting and are spotty offensively. This weekend will be a verified mettle tester. Would love to see 2+ wins as a statement.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Forgot about the dual-attendance double-dip tomorrow. What me, nervous? Always....
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 A little nervous about the rotation of Bassitt and Huminahuminahumina this weekend. Hope they've got their hitting shoes on.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Magic Eight Ball, how many Kabooms will the Mets hit tonight?Seven, of course! It has spoken.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Phils have claimed OF Bradley Zimmer off waivers from the Blue Jays as a replacement for Brandon Marsh who went on the IL needing a lube and an oil change ... or maybe it's an ankle sprain and bone bruise, reports I've read are conflicting. And, yeah, it's a big series ... Buuuuutas down as we are for losing three of four, when the earlier NYM/ATL series started the Braves were 3.5 out. And now, after not only winningthree of four but also winning six straight in between the two series [bOS x 2, MIA x 4] they're still 3.5 out and there are 15 fewer games on the schedule. The Phils were 10 back when that 5-game NYM/ATL series started and now they're 10.5 back.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Also, Atlanta finally has to play some tougher teams (other than the Mets). They have Houston this weekend and St. Louis next weekend. No more non-stop Miami/Washington
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Pete is developing a porn stache
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Is Vogelbach related to Lucas Duda?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Terrific inning-ending play by Lindor with two in scoring position.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Author Posted August 19, 2022 Look, it's the worst mascot in sports, the Gallagher of mascots.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Nice work.I hope that means Pete has left behind a back-monkey.I hope Nimmo can do the same.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 McNeil has really become quite the gamer, huh?
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 I told my wife during dinner that the Mets were probably pissed coming out if the Braves series and were going to take it out on the Phillies.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Nicely executed double steal by Lindor and Marte. Speed kills.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Pulling off the second/home double-steal in the same game that the Phils tried to do the same (and the Mets didn't bite) is great.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 I've spent most of my life believing that double-steals are things that happen TO the Mets.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Got to be all for Nola with 100 pitches.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Well, Bassitt's scoreless-inning streak is up against the wall.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Two of the hit-by-pitch guys tonight swung/advanced into the oncoming pitch. Get out of the way, two men on first that didn't deserve to be there.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 The bulldog might not make it out of the inning.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 He out. Inning over.Is he actually called "The Bulldog"?
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2022 Posted August 19, 2022 Well, I call him that. Orel would probably object.
