Heat Wave by Martha & the Vandellas would be lyric appropriate, today. Off the top of my head, I'd go with Ball and Chain or Summertime by Janis and Big Brother. Or if I wanted to be stylistically apart from my teammates, Summertime, the version on Porgy and Bess by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. But I don't know of any major leaguers my age.
