Carrasco has been working with sliders away most of the game but has been leaving some inside and getting hit harder here in the fifth.

Dang! Ottavino had 2-outs and an 0-2 count and was sitting on a potential 8-pitch 1-2-3 inning ...

then he nibbled on Arcia and gave up a 3-2 single, followed by a WP and an RBI single to bring Acuna up as the tying run.

... but then whiffs him!!

Not THAT dumb apparently.

Cahna would have hit three homers.

Clearly ... and caught that d'Arnaud liner.

Canha is unequivocally the better player, i know you struggle with that concept re: trading nobodies for established major leaguers, but small sample results not withstanding, if you routinely play the lesser player, you end up with a lesser team. Naquin was a decent pickup around the edges, they should be careful not to over expose him, and it's surprising to see in perhaps the biggest game of the year so far that you don't play the better guy.

I don't trust our useless beat guys to ask/press Buck on this though, so we'll probably never know if there was a baseball reason behind it, something about Atlanta's pitch profile matching Naquin's swing profile, etc, if they're even aware of that sorta thing.
