G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Batting ninth and playing second for the Braves: Robinson Cano.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 or maybe just, you know, pitch to him, not try to hurt him?
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 That seems bad strategy, if we're hitting it anywhere, to grass and over the fence seems preferable.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 I was hoping that wouldn't really be understood to be a literal suggestion.Max-on-Max action coming.

[TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/new-york-mets-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][/TH][TH][FIMG=250]https://cdn.freebiesupply.com/images/large/2x/atlanta-braves-logo-transparent.png[/FIMG][/TH][TH][/TH]

[TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH][TH]#[/TH][TH]Player[/TH][TH]Pos.[/TH]

=#FF5910]1=#002D72]Brandon Nimmo (L)=#FF5910]cf=#13274F]1=#CE1141]Ronald Acuña, Jr. (R)=#13274F]rf

=#FF5910]2=#002D72]Francisco Lindor (S)=#FF5910]ss=#13274F]2=#CE1141]Dansby Swanson (R)=#13274F]ss

=#FF5910]3=#002D72]Pete Alonso (R)=#FF5910]1b=#13274F]3=#CE1141]Matt Olson (L)=#13274F]1b

=#FF5910]4=#002D72]Mark Cahna (R)=#FF5910]lf=#13274F]4=#CE1141]Austin Riley (R)=#13274F]3b

=#FF5910]5=#002D72]Eduardo Escobar (S)=#FF5910]3b=#13274F]5=#CE1141]Marcell Ozuna (R)=#13274F]dh

=#FF5910]6=#002D72]Luis Guillorme (L)=#FF5910]2b=#13274F]6=#CE1141]Eddie Rosario (L)=#13274F]lf

=#FF5910]7=#002D72]J.D. kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Looks a little limpy, but we'll see.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Yeah, jumping out at me are (a) a lot of lefties in a lineup going up against Fried, and ( a sudden return to the five-hole for Eduardo Escobar after he's been dropping in the lineup for much of the season.I still haven't seen the transaction activating Jankowski, but the lineup is certainly tipping that one off. Watch the Mets Roster Central thread for more!
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 To follow up on Edgy's funny Roster Thread Buckingham(s) comment, but not Lindsay, that lineup looks like Kind of a Drag.Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Fried is so fidgety, it doesn't feel like he ever comes to a stop.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Late to the party and just figured out that I wasn't required to suffer through the inane FS1 crew because this game is on SNY also
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Gary is referencing The Bad News Bears and confusing Engelberg and Stein. This is damaging your legacy, Gary.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 RBI dubble!!Pricks the Braves' bubble!!
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 How often do the Braves wear these gold-trimmed ‘champions' uniforms? Are these their standard home unis for this season? Are they an alternate option? Is it a gamesmanship thing to decide to wear them in this series?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 My eyeball judgment said Pete was out on that flare, but he just got into third safely.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Waddayaknow? The hit-it-to-Canó strategy kinda worked!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Waddayaknow? The troll-the-Mets-with-Canó strategy kinda worked!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 ~4-1/2 innings worth of pitches for Fried to get thru 3And now starts the 4th with a 4 pitch walk to the best base running threat.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Worth noting:1. The Braves are coming off a long extra-inning game, so getting into their bullpen may prove crucial as the series progresses.2. If Davis comes up against a righthanded batter in a key situation, maybe the Mets aren't tempted to pinch-hit Smith, the way he's going. But if they are tempted, they mostly can't, because Davis is effectively their only backup at three infield positions.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 We're at 91 pitches for Fried Flintstone with none out in the fifth.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 The hit-it-to-Canó strategy may have reached it's natural limits.
Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Max looking super-sharp with a low pitch count. Me likey.
