Who is the Philadelphia pitcher who, 10 years ago tonight, was the losing pitcher the night of Jeremy Hefner's first major league win, but also gave up Hefner's first major league homer?

Ahhh, but that's the issue. ESPN carries the HR Derby so, to them, it's the most important (maybe the Only important) day of the whole season.

I'll be honest here. It seemed to me as though the entire Mets organization was never more focused these past few years than the way they were focused on the stupid home run derby.

I feel so good that it would appear to be a small priority this year, based on the attention they are finally paying to the regular season

No doubt that NYM mgmt often used those pr-type wins to paper over the dearth of on-field wins. But that's sort of a separate point. Mine us that ESPN doesn't like baseball and so thinks that the HR Derby is the season highlight. Why would anyone want to watch a fucking game of baseball. their reasoning goes, when you can watch some manufactured pseudo-drama.

I think the Phils' last division hopes are on the line right here, but I didn't realize Girardi was dangling. That would be something.
